I can't believe noone's talking about it. Or else it was just too difficult to watch all of it.
I liked the part where Bush said; America is addicted to oil. (Ya don't say...) And went on to talk about getting oil from other places. Could you hear the Albertans hootin n' hollerin?

Sadly, I can't bear to watch him speak, er...attempt to speak for more than about a minute. I become literally overwhelmed by cynicism. |

Yeah, it's kinda like one of those things that you know is going to be a farce before it even happens so why bother. I was skiing anyway. That's my preference for getting snowed. |

I shun speeches by all politicians. But, the smoother the delivery, the more repulsive the product. It's better to rely on online reactions. |

I didn't get to see the address.. Normally i'm pretty up to date with this stuff... funny thing about American presidents... I was watching a retrospective programme on Irish television the other day called 'reeling in the years' . basically it just goes through the main new stories, sports and assorted interest stuff from a particular year with a soundtrack of tunes from that year, its actually very well done, its amazing what you forget or didn't know about. Anyway there were showing footage of Bill Clinton visiting Dublin and Belfast - there was thousands of Irish people out on the street waving stars and stripes, cheering screaming, .. delighted, enthusiastic, jubilant..but how things have changed, I don't think an American president would ever get that sort of welcome again, no matter what his attitude is to present goings on… and that’s not a political statement on my behalf, that’s just the way things are... George Bush changed things utterly.. Hillary Clinton may go some way to sorting things out but it will be an uphill struggle I’d say |

Hillary is an amazing woman, actually. I don't think she would be the right choice for a presidential candidate due to the strong reaction much of the country has to the Clintons, but she is pretty brilliant.

I disagree. It's not that unusual or difficult for someone with her education and, especially, drive to get to where she is.

I agree. Also, we're talking about a still fairly new senator from NY state. I believe that many American voters are enamored of the idea of having a female or African-American president (Barack Obama) but it ain't gonna fly. No time soon.

That's got to be an overstatement. How many female senators are there? 8? It's unusual. |

Yes, statistically it's something. But would she be there were it not for the name recognition (a la Liz Dole) and former Penn Ave address?

It´s genetics got her where she is and nothing more. Pay attention to Hilary Clinton´s eyes next time you see her speak, they don´t do the same as the rest of her face. She is not a warmblooded creature.

You know, I'd really like to see a president who doesn't insist on thinking the United States is "the best." Are we Americans REALLY so insecure that we can't feel any pride in our country without putting the rest of them down?
