The idea of this thread is not only to cut and paste some lyrics you like but to explain why you like them, and share your personal opinion of them. You can also confront your interpretation with another member.

OK, I start :

STREETS OF YOUR TOWN
by the Go-Betweens

Round and round, up and down,
through the streets of your town.
Every day I make my way,
Through the streets of your town.

And don't the sun look good today?
But the rain is on its way
Watch the butcher shine his knives
And this town is full of battered wives

Round and round, up and down,
through the streets of your town.
Every day I make my way,
Through the streets of your town.

And I’ll ride your river under the bridge.(shine)
And I’ll take your boat out of the reach. (shine)
Cause I love that engine roar. (shine)
But I still don’t know what I’m here for. (shine)

Round and round, up and down,
through the streets of your town.
Every day I make my way,
Through the streets of your town.

They shut it down
They closed it down
They shut it down
They pulled it down

Round and round, up and down,
through the streets of your town.
Every day I make my way,
Through the streets of your town.

First of all, this song is a true pop gem by one of the most underrated bands ever, with a fake innocence comparable to Brian Wilson's songs. It is funny because it seems to be clearly telling something that happened in my life: there is this very little town in the suburb of Paris where my ex-girlfriend used to live, and I often came to see her there. My dentist was there too, and I stayed with the same dentist when she was no longer my girlfriend, which made me come to "her" town from time to time. And I used to cross that bridge over the river when going there. And there was a butcher just next to my dentist. Each time I would go there I had a very strange feeling - leaving a big city and coming to a small town full of tiny memories. I would usually go for a little walk around the market place, "round round, up and down".

I will show you fear in a handful of dust
