Inspired by the fact that I could think of nowhere else to put this and that it has been driving me crazy... what two songs (from different artists) do you hear that completely lead you to think as one of them ends that it should go into the other. For example, this has been bugging me all week:
Franz Ferdinand (I'm Your Villain) -> Breeders (Opened)
Whenever the end of the former comes up, I always feel like it should start into Opened. And I just tried crossing them together and it sounds as delicious as I hoped. Anyone else have examples of this, or am I nuts? If you DO have examples, it could make for a pretty wicked mix CD.

They're the same riff or whatever you musician types call it. Ice ripped off Bowie.

I saw Vanilla on Mtv once and he insisted it wasn't the same riff as the Queen song. Something about the Vanilla version having an extra "ding" as he put it. GO WHITE BOY! GO WHITE BOY, GO! |

slightly on a tangent, these two mix well:
Signus/What Ya Got For Me >Tony De Vit/The Dawn (Paul Janes Remix)
i could give you shitloads of examples, but then we'd be bordering on house/hardhouse etc, and i'm sure some of you moshers don't really want to go there, so we won't. |

Highway Star(Deep Purple)->Run To The Hills(Iron Maiden). I'm not particularly fond of either song, but I keep mentally melding them together.

Everytime I have Valentine & Garuda in my head, the guitar solo turns into the one from Bad Harmony and I end up singing that one instead. You know, when it gets to the "F C G Em G" in V&G, I change to the "F C F Bb" part of Bad Harmony and bam! I got my mental Frank medley. I think the guitar notes played over the F chord are similar. Has this happened to anyone else?

Once i made a mix that went Bruce Springsteen (Devils and Dust) -> Sufjan Stevens (The Upper Penninsula) and now that's how i always hear it.

Yet another guitar solo mix-up: when I hear Johnny Barleycorn and it gets to the solo I always sing the one from Guided By Voices' "Bulldog Skin" instead. Don't know if it's the same chords but it's the same tempo and it kinds of starts similarly.

Interesting, I'll have to listen to those back to back to refresh the ol' memory. I love Bulldog Skin.
I was trying to find an FB mix I made back during the BLD/DW tour called the Portland Portage. To this day, there are certain FB songs that, in my mind, naturally turn into other songs that aren't on the mix. There were a lot of b-sides, of course some unreleased (at the time) tracks from BLD/DW, and I don't know what else. I'll be back...

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but have you decks at home, CoF? Away from the six string I love getting a mix on. Cross fade heaven. |

What exactly is the point of that? To mix songs together that are supposed to sound similar? Whatever the point is, it sucks! ------------------ www.myspace.com/doog = solo choons www.myspace.com/casabonitaband = noisey stuff www.myspace.com/WKtheband = surfrockpop geekery www.myspace.com/ukpixiestribute = Nimrod's Son |

Yeah, that is gay. I hadn't heard it in a long time and just posted it without thinking. I didn't remember how crappy it sounds.
