Aaah, I feel soiled and tainted. You see, I just had porridge for breakfast, which in itself is not a bad thing, but it's what I put in it that's making me feel bad. This morning, I put honey in. This goes against everything I have ever believed, Scots put buckets of salt in it and scoff at the sweetening of porridge.
Anyway, in the interests of health, I thought putting honey in my porridge would be a good thing (cause, you know, lots of people do it), foregoing salt for the first time ever (and trying to avoid a hike in my blood pressure). It was vile, it was rancid, I will never eat it again. Every mouthful was crying out for the sweet taste of salt.

That's because she was suggesting subpar Canadian maple syrup, not the real stuff:

No, I thought honey would be a better option. I tried stirring blueberry jam in after, but it just turned into a purple hell.
I have some Vermont maple syrup, but I don't think I'm ever drunk enough in the morning to try sweet porridge again.

on topic though, going against the grain I need to buy some new shoes. I tried on a pair in clarkes that were very sensible and comfortable green suede flats and blah blah blah. I also tried on a pair in another shop which are against the grain for me, they are brown plaid with green suede tip and bow and they have... a kitten heel. My grain dictates sensible shoes, my against the grain weeps for kitten heels and bows. I do not know what to do. |

quote: Definition: The kitten heel -- popularized by the beyond-chic Audrey Hepburn -- is a femme little heel, usually 1 ½ to 2 inches high, with a girlie little curve to it. It's a perfect medium between flats (sometimes just way too flat) and high heels (can you say "pain?").
Still not sure really.......

Two examples, the top being a classic kitten heel, the bottom being slightly higher than the traditional kitten heel, both inciting in me strong feelings of lust.

I haven't done it yet, but next week I'm going to go against my grain and be enthusiastic and personable. I have a 2 day job interview. I must shine like the sun. Perhaps I'll need a liquid breakfast. |

i'm having a hard time finding words to describe the experience. "breakthrough"? "epiphany"? |

I recently bought a chart CD, which is pretty rare. Oh, and I drank some sort of weird fish tomato juice from Canada?
One of these things turned out well, see if you can guess which.

I've started wearing white socks as of late. I used to only wear black ones.

As far as I can tell, you're supposed to bin it immediately without touching it.

I tend to fear and hate firearms in general, but I like this one - a Smith & Wesson from the Civil War era - because it was given to me by a Navajo antiquarian in Gallup, New Mexico (2 months ago). Note that this lovely toy is disabled, otherwise it would have been confiscated by the TSA...
