Let's talk about how great Stephin Merritt and The Magnetic Fields are. I think Stephin Merritt and The Magnetic Fields are great. The songs are simple, but generally very electro-catchy, and the lyrics are second-to-none.
I have The House of Tomorrow, The Charm of the Highway Strip, I, 69 Love Songs and Holiday. My favourite is The House of Tomorrow.
Do you like The Magnetic Fields?

Yes, excellent music.
69 Love Songs my favorite, I've collected the best songs off the three volumes on one cd. I've not heard House Of Tomorrow yet, will look for it.
Mislead, do you know any of Merritt's side projects? There are a few but I haven't come across their music yet.
Anyone knows if they're worth checking out?

I think The House of Tomorrow was their first EP. It's only five songs, but for some reason they have a particular resonance for me. I've heard very good things about Future Bible Heroes from some worthy sources, but alas, have not heard enough of them to give you any useful information.
You know, I'm going to look them up right now.

I need to get the rest of the Magnetic Fields' albums. I have Holiday, The Charm of the Highway Strip, 69 Love Songs (one of the best albums I've ever heard, seriously), and i.
I've heard a fair amount of Future Bible Heroes, and I have a 6ths album as well. Most of the FBH songs have a female lead singer, and the 6ths have a different singer on each song.

I really only know the song "Luckiest Guy on the Lower East Side" but it's a great li'l song. I've heard it on the college station here a couple times.

Buy The House of Tomorrow. Five pounds, five sounds. I mean songs. From HMV. It's great, start to finish. It's only 20 minutes long though.
Though off the top of my head: Strange Powers Underwear I Don't Believe You I Thought You Were My Boyfriend I Have the Moon Absolutely Cuckoo Chicken with it's Head Cut Off The Luckiest Guy on the Lower East Side I Think I Need a New Heart Fido, Your Leash is Too Long
etc etc. I don't know. It's so hard with The Magnetic Fields.

"Papa Was A Rodeo" is one of my personal favorites. Anyone who participated in the next-to-last mix CD swap might remember it from that.
