I know Mr. Black and the Catholics covered this song at some of their shows. I've never heard them play it, but i know Depeche Mode does a cover too on their new album. This version i have heard. Does anyone know what the song is about? (I do like the Depeche Mode version) |

Depeche Mode's version however IS NOT A COVER. It's a completely revamped song...no similar lyrics, not the same music. It's kinda cool for what it is, but a bit on the shlocky side as well.

Depeche Mode and shlocky in the same sentence. Shocking.

It's really not a cover, just has the same name?! Surely it's supposed to be the song, but completely revamped?

The original is a blues standard and I believe it was written by Son House. I have a version of it by Son and it rocks |

From what I've read, this song was first recorded by Blind Willie Johnson.
"If you doze much longer, then life turns to dreaming. If you doze much longer, then dreams turn to nightmares." |
