So I finally got to see Ween last night for the first time, after years of missing concert after concert for various reasons. Having seen Ween, I can now say that my musical life is complete, in the sense that I've seen all the bands that shaped my taste in music while growing up, two of which were Pixies and Camper Van Beethoven, which were supposedly never going to tour again. Of course there's many, many more bands now which I'd like to see, but that's all gravy.
Here's my theoretical check-list:
Pixies They Might Be Giants Camper Van Beethoven Ween Paul McCartney (It's not the Beatles, but Sir McPaul is the closest I"ll ever get UNTIL I FINISH BUILDING MY TIME MACHINE!!!)
Anybody else managed to meet such a goal? Anybody close? Best of luck to all with the same aim.

I've seen Sigur Ros, and of course the Pixies recently, which were certainly high up on the list. In January, I'm seeing Mogwai, which is another off the checklist.
I have joined the Cult Of Frank/And I have dearly paid |

There is only really Nirvana, The Beatles and Pink Floyd that shaped my musical taste that I haven't seen.
I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place

I'd love to have seen Rage Against The Machine and Kyuss.
In the meantime I'm utterly delighted that I've ticked off the following: Pixies Fantomas Dillinger Escape Plan Breeders Frank Black & The Catholics Isis
edit: I'm ashamed of myself how could I forget Clutch

I've seen the Pixies and Frank, so it's pretty complete. Never saw Nirvana. Or The Breeders. But I did see Fugazi and Sonic Youth. And Carcass. Sadly, I don't think Primus have ever played here, and they probably never will. Actually, I've never seen Metallica, probably was never that bothered going to see them. My brother has seen Nomeansno a few times, they've played Dublin a lot and I regret never seeing them. Supposedly, they're better live, which I can believe, since Live+Cuddly is my favorite Nomeansno album!

seeing Black Francis solo in 91 (joined half way through the set by Joey) will probably always be the best concert i ever saw |

These sound very good. I don't include Frank Black & The Catholics or The Breeders, since a)most would assume if I wanted to see the Pixies so badly, I would want to see the others as well and b) the Catholics hadn't hit the scene until after I had asserted myself as a music lover, along with the Breeders (though the Breeders technically were around, I just wasn't aware). I could probably put Primus on my list as well, but fortunately I got to see them twice in 2003. Since cassandra is added the number of times, I'll update...
Pixies (4) FB&TC(5) TMBG(5) Camper VB(4) Ween(1) Sir McPaul(1) Primus(2) Bonus: Beck(1) Smashing Pumpkins(1)
The best show I've ever seen among those is definately the Pixies at the Fine Line. It was too big of an occasion for it not to be. A close 2nd, 3rd and 4th would be the other Pixies shows, followed by the time I saw Camper play their first official reunion show (or rather mini-set in the middle of a Cracker concert in NYC). Subsequent performances by CVB have been better, but, like the Pixies' Fine Line show, it was the gravity of the show that lifts it so high. It was a bittersweet occasion after first hearing both bands in my teens, thinking that I'd never have a chance to see them live and the rest of my life would be unfulfilled because of their ill-fated breakups. Fuck fate. We got 'em back. Now let's all work on The Beatles and Velvet Underground.

Addendum: Radiohead (@ Red Rocks, where the Beatles performed on August 26th, 1964, which is kinda like seeing them, but not really, not even close, so I don't know why I bothered to mention it).

This year alone I saw Daniel Johnston, Pixies and Underground Resistance. That's probably 3 of the most important gigs of my life.

I've been pretty lucky. Among all time favorite bands I've seen: REM X Pixies Catholics Breeders Dead Milkmen
Among the legends, I've seen: McCartney Dylan
I want to see Willie Nelson before he's gone and Beck, David Byrne, and TMBG when I get a chance. |

I'd really like to see the Magnetic Fields, as well as Scott McCaughey in some form (Young Fresh Fellows, Minus 5, or solo). I'd also love to see XTC live, but I don't think that will ever happen.

I got to see Steven Malkmus open for Radiohead, actually. That was an awesome opening act. And Magnetic Fields are on my list of yet-to-sees. I should probably include Soul Coughing on my list as well. I think they were my first Twin Cities concert.

Apart from GBV, whose music I don't know. Also, a few years ago, before I rediscovered Frank, I obviously did'nt make too much of an effort to see him live. For shame!

A bit jealous of all of those who saw GBV. A bit jealous of LBF, who saw Nirvana.
I'd like to see Fugazi, but I think that might be impossible. I'd love to see Descendents, but I think that might be impossible. |

Neither will any of us. I saw Fugazi supported by Chumbawamba, before they got big with that annoying one-hit-wonder single, they were joyous and funny.
