So I'm sure most of you are aware of 4AD's 25th Anniversary right now. I received an advance of the retrospective sampler they're putting out to commemorate, features the Pixies among others.
1. Le Mystère Des Voix Bulgares - Schopska Pesen (Diaphonic Chant) 2. Cocteau Twins - Lorelei 3. TV On The Radio - New Health Rock 4. The Birthday Party - Fears Of Gun 5. His Name Is Alive - Fossil 6. Pale Saints - Sight Of You 7. The Breeders - Off You 8. Throwing Muses - Cottonmouth 9. Pixies - Where Is My Mind? 10. The Wolfgang Press - I'm Coming Home (Mama) 11. The Mountain Goats - See America Right 12. Tarnation - Two Wrongs Won't Make Things Right 13. Mojave 3 - In Love With A View 14. Belly - Super-Connected 15. Red House Painters - Summer Dress 16. Sybarite - Scene Of The Crime 17. Dead Can Dance - Emmeleia 18. Blonde Redhead - Magic Mountain
Pretty good line-up if you ask me; an interesting label, very indie, pretty eclectic, always worth a look.
Plus the following are all playing gigs in London from this evening on: TV On The Radio Celebration Magnétophone Sonic Boom King Creosote HMS Ginafore Minotaur Shock Breeders Polytechnic Wolf & Cub Kristin Hersh Paula Frazer Mountain Goats Emma Pollock Todd Mojave 3 Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters) Blonde Redhead Johann Johannsson
There's also an exhibition of Vaughan Oliver's artwork at the Breeders shows (noon-5pm), and an exclusive screening of a promo from the forthcoming Scott Walker film '30th Century Man' at the Blonde Redhead gig as well as a 'Scott Walker Lounge' where the film's director (Stephen Kijak) will be DJing.
Sounds like a party!

I haven't got a scanner, unfortunately... It might be on the 4AD website? It's kind of swirly and patterny.
I think I heard there's going to be a coffee-table book of VO's art sometime or something along those lines, that sounds familiar...

My bro has Vaughn's 'Visceral Pleasures'. He's a big fan, me too, but for different reasons. I need to kill a few hours before the Breeders gig, and I can't think of a better way than VO's exhibition (or beer).
Thanks for the heads up, I knew nothing about it. |

Jo's put it in another thread, VO's doing a book-signing of his big book 6-7pm both days as well.

Are 4AD claiming they have signed them?
I'd walk her everyday, into a shady place
