Grumpy response: I think No! is much better. Or, No! is much more like a TMBG album with songs that kids might like. Whereas, I don't think ABC has much cleverness. But, I've never seen the DVD.

Just finished (10 minutes ago) dancing to Flood with my 2 year old.

I almost wept last night when my kid made me take off Ana Ng and put on Istabul not Constantinople. Better than kicking it old school with Sharon, Lois and Bram.

(darwin, I tend to agree with you and you are not grumpy. You're right.)

Is it too early to derail the thread with Dan Zanes?

True!

My kid's childhood is Wiggles-free but we're too close to the Canadian border to escape Sharon, Lois or Bram.

I actually know the chords to the Wiggles' "Big Red Car" and "Fruit Salad" and am forced to play and sing for my son.

But doesn't the part in "Dorothy the Dinosaur" that goes "romp-pomp-a-chomp" kind of rock? Did I really just say that aloud?

Dan Zanes. Oh yes, of the Del Fuegos. I remember the "Don't Run Wild" video on V66 when I was a youngin'. They were playing on the Mass. Ave. Bridge over the Charles. Good tune. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

I've only watched the DVD once, but it was pretty cool. I wrote a review on both the CD and the DVD some time ago, and I could hunt them up if anyone is interested. (I doubt anyone is, though.) I agree with Darwin that No! is a better album, but then, I guess TMBG is allowed to do a project like the ABC one every once in a while. And while some of the songs are pretty weak ("The Vowel Family," anyone?) and others really don't work without the visuals ("Letter/Not A Letter" and "Letter Shapes," for instance), there are also some quality songs on the record.

I was going to make some crack about only watching it once but still writing a review, but then I remembered that probably is the case for 90% of movie reviews.

It seems to be the case for a lot of music reviews, too.

"Initial thoughts" might have been a better term for what I wrote. It's not exactly a formal review, just what I thought of it upon first viewing. My thoughts were mainly positive, although I think there were a few too many breaks that simply consisted of reciting the alphabet.

Our family thinks the whole Here Come The ABCs set its the best thing ever.

We even got these cool tshirts about the made up country in Alphabet of Nations.

They're at http://WestXylophone.com

The shirts are soo cute and my daugters really like looking like "twins" (well, they're 2 and 5, so not exactly but you know what I mean.)

The West Xylophone guys are stlling car stickers http://WestXylophone.com/shop.php?prod=stickers and stuff, too. Very silly.

What I want to know is whether there's an EAST Xylophone.
