I'd go way earlier than their Feldman era. The two most popular albums with their fans seem to be The Modern Dance and Dub Housing, both of which are excellent. If you're looking for something really weird, they had Mayo Thompson as a member for a couple years and released a pair entitled The Art of Walking and Song of the Bailing Man.

I know that Cloudland is only available in LP format, so, I'm out of luck there since I don't have a turntable. Worlds of Collision is supposedly out of print in CD but I happened to get one off of ebay.
The New Picnic Time took me many listens before I could appreciate it.
(Sliding off topic) With my "research" of music, I finally picked up 21 Hits, a compilation of Red Crayola (Mayo Thompson). That one took several listens also to appreciate. Now I have another band to look into. |

I think most people that enjoy Pere Ubu would appreciate Red Crayola.

Forgot to answer to this thread. I've listened to Ray Gun Suitcase and I think it's fan-fucking-tastic. After a couple of listens the standout tracks are Turquoise Fins and the Surfer Girl cover which is the best Beach Boys cover I've ever heard. I'm considering adding something from this album to my mix for the fb.net swap, but it doesn't feel right seeing as I really don't know anything else about the band. Plus fumanbru already put a Pere Ubu track on his (excellent, by the way).
