Are you a day dreamer? do you fill your time with little head story games and crazy fantasy worlds, are your daydreams grounded in reality do they have a common theme. Is this something everyone does, and if so to the same extent?
I'm a dreamer, leave me without something to do and my head starts to take a wander. Sometimes I ponder things (see for reference the world is so big... thread) but sometimes it's daydream. Sometimes it's real world story and sometimes it's crazy land story. I was having a smoke today for example, on the back step of the house I am staying in and I saw a ladybird. I watched the ladybird climbing all over the grass and I thought that ladybird will be dead soon, it's nearly winter the ladybird will die. I then started thinking about life as a ladybird and if they were social or not, I know nothing about these bugs. and by the end of my cigarette I had a whole little ladybird story playing round my head.
Last night at around 2am I was chasing a rabbit around in the rain, true story, one of the neighbours bunnys had escaped and it was cold out and I was a bit worried about the bunny so I chased it, in my oh so cool pimjams, and tried to catch it. Had a mild heart attack when it ran toward the road, and then had to give up when it went into a neighbours garden. So I was worried about the bunny and I'm trying to watch an evening with kevin smith and all I can think about is worst case scenarios for this bunny. I think my final decision on a bunny scenario was sort of like the end of the shining, they'd find the bunny in the morning frozen to a hedge, looking mean.
Then I sometimes daydream about things I want to happen. I have to watch myself here because it can lead to false hope. Even the most banal of things are open to daydream. For those of you who don't know I'm in the painful process of finding somewhere to live, today I am waiting for a call about a flat my friend and I went to see on wednesday. Trying hard not to, I have been daydreaming about this flat and moving in and how cool that would be. I'm trying not to because if this guy calls and says no I may go on some sort of deranged violent spree.
Anyway, what about you lot? |

I am one of the most easily distracted people I know. My school reports all said that I daydreamed too much. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's a hobby of mine, one of my favourite past times. It can take the form of nostalgic daydreaming all the way to wishful thinking to as you said the most utterly banal. I find it really hard not too - especially at work, I sit right next to a really big window and the leaves are all starting to change colour and it works like a kaleidoscope and just sets me off all the time.
Lead me not into temptation; I can find the way myself. |

mine too.
i have an overactive imagination sometimes.. i know what you mean, Tre, about fantasizing about something you want to happen, and how that's dangerous.. sometimes when i want something to happen, i make an effort not to try and get my hopes up too much and get involved in it, because the disappointment is a bummer. but then i think there's nothing wrong with it either. what's the point of living without hopes and dreams?
i can't help it anyway

Move over, all of youse, make room for the queen of distracted daydreaming!
A constant daydream runs thru my head at all times. Sometimes I'll replay (usually pleasant) events that have already occurred. But mostly it's wishful-thinking scenarios, mostly imaginary conversations. No matter what, the stuff inside my head is far more interesting than reality. To the point where I feel put upon and annoyed when real people trying to engage me in an actual conversation encroach upon my sacred stupid daydream world.

I'm quite analytical, and most of my daydreaming involves playing out future scenarios. You know, if X said that, then I'd say that. If I did this, would X do that or that? I guess these usually involve circumstances of potential conflict, and I quite like to have my responses prepared in advance (sad, I know)
I doubt I've ever daydreamed in the bunny or ladybird way. I do sometimes make up stories for the kids, but usually on the hoof, and usually they're not very good.
That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

Mine usually involve, not future scenarios or bunnies or swirling leaves, but, like, um, sex. Does that make me a bad person? God, I should come back and delete this post.

I think I have the perfect email for you (video of the pizza guy fantasy!).
I will daydream out of control if I let myself. I get unbelievable satisfaction about thinking of events in the future that are on the road to happening, to the point where I turned off the radio on the way to work the other day just to revel in my thoughts for the entire drive. Kind of weird now that i think about it.

My daydreams usually involve a magic watch that either stops time or grants me wishes.

I have a magic torch that I switch on at night in bed and go into this other magic world with a talking St. Bernard dog. |

My daydream has nothing to do with Jamie and his Magic Torch!!!(do ever wish you were a Transformer, just asking)? Actually, my head goes off in truly weired and tantom imagianings which would be too hard to explain here! But they keep me entertained.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who daydreams constantly. I make up stories, try to come up with ideas for weird monsters and such, think over how previous scenarios could have played out differently, and more. When I'm not daydreaming, I'm usually listing things in my head.

As long as the sex and the bunnies aren't in there together, you should be fine.

That's true.
By the way, what's with the British term "ladybird"? They're not like birds in any way.

When you say ŽI hopeŽ in Spanish you also say ŽI wait.Ž Henry Miller said hoping meant you are not being all you want to be, it is a type of spiritual clap.

I was once stoned in my head, after I picked up some sticks on the Sabbath.
