I for one will be dissolving in an acid dust cloud

http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/news/wwn/20050912/112653720013.html

quote:
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Scared-stiff astronomers have detected a mysterious mass they've dubbed a "chaos cloud" that dissolves everything in its path, including comets, asteroids, planets and entire stars -- and it's headed directly toward Earth!

Discovered April 6 by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, the swirling, 10 million-mile- wide cosmic dust cloud has been likened to an "acid nebula" and is hurtling toward us at close to the speed of light -- making its estimated time of arrival 9:15 a.m. EDT on June 1, 2014.

I imagine this will be following my early morning round of golf near our second home on Hawaii.

What will you be doing?

The fact this is classified as 'entertainment news' is not convincing me that this is scientific inevitabality.

How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Obviously I'm not being entirely serious. The golf courses on Hawaii are rubbish.

I doubt I'll be up yet, unless I have a job that requires me to be.

This thread inspired me to put on Paul Simon's "The Boy In The Bubble." Thank you, LlamaSteve.

These are the days of miracle and wonder
This is the long distance call
The way the camera follows us in slo-mo
The way we look to us all
The way we look to a distant constellation
That's dying in a corner of the sky
These are the days of miracle and wonder
And don't cry baby, don't cry, don't cry

I can't believe how many of you would sleep through it. IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD FFS!! A once in a lifetime opportunity.

Oh, and thanks kathryn, your post inspired me to put on Kodachrome, which is probably my favourite Paul Simon song.I haven't listened to it in ages.

There once was a parodic newspaper here (called News Of The World but even sillier than the real NOTW) that said on the front page "80% of the French are in favor of the end of the world!", and they had an interview of a guy saying "We already missed the beginning, I wouldn't want to miss the end too!"
