I want to buy my first MP3 player. I think I will mostly use it attached to my car stereo so I can clear the CD clutter from the car.
Do I just stay with the in-crowd and get an IPod with 20 gig? What about software issues? Does it suck to only be able to use ITunes? |

The iPod certainly has name recognition, but there are other brands that are a better value. Besides, Apple won't let you change the battery yourself. I'd shop around.

I didn't get one, no. But I saw it, and touched it, and was mucho impressed.

You touched it?
Well, that's good enough for me. I'll buy one next week.
I've been contemplating starting a thread taking opinions on which color I should choose.

Sorry, let me clarify: the iPod Nano and I were intimate with one another.

The nano looks great, but I think it only comes in white or black. So, black.

I don't know, but I'd prefer not to have to send it to Apple when that time does arise.

i don't see the point in buying a small mp3 player, ie. nano or mini, when the bigger 20gb or 40gb ones are, gigabyte for gigabyte, so much cheaper.
creative ones are meant to be good (and cheaper than ipods too)

I gotta agree. I almost got the iPod mini and am so glad I just bit it and got the 20GB. I am not to the 5,000 songs yet but close....actually makes me now think I would have bought the 40GB. But I couldn't of afforded it at the time. |

I'm somewhat inclined to believe that's the only reason Apple can ever sell any of their products.

C'mon, it holds 1,000 songs, is tiny (thinner than a #2 pencil and less than half the size of other players) plus it has one-handed navigation (no masturbation jokes, please). It's perfect for running, which is what I want it for. I'm going for it, people.

You need to get with the times lady.
Loving the ipod and never having heard of iriver is like loving U2 but having never heard of Pixies.
You can play movies on it. Movies I say.

I don't need to watch movies when I'm running, Homers. Plus, I image-googled your beloved iriver and, I know all the girls tell you this, but that thing is huge!
Nano. Small. Better. Apple. I'm in.

agreed, i have a creative labs zen, was only about £150 for 20 gig. it's very good. only slight complaint is the headphones that come with it aren't fantastic... but that's easily replaced.

Why love the ipod? Small it may be, but overall it is certainly not the best.

Kathryn from a fellow mac person, stick with your lovely nano. You've already got itunes, hell you'll not even have to read the manual to figure out how it works.

I may have slagged mine off but I would sooner be kept in a small room and made to listen to Coldplay for days with only my evil bastard ex boss for company than switch to a pc.
