I know beard threads abound here, but this one's a twist - I shaved off my beard for craziness reasons and I'm not sure whether to keep it clean-shaven, or grow back the stubbly beard. If this illicits enough interest, I may post pictures to aid decision-making.

I'm growing one too so I say go for it. You gotta have something warm to sleep in when the weather cools.

i'm coming up on almost 2 months now. friends of mine have said that it looks good, but is starting to look "unkempt". to which i told them to fuck off
i had to meet the parents of my new female friend last night. i was very tempted to shave it, or at least trim it, but ultimately decided 'fuck it' i'm going to keep it the way it is. i counteracted my scruffiness by wearing a nice jacket and generally looking dope.
the last time i shaved my beard i regretted it. i think i'm in for the long haul this time. Erebus style
ps. i think trimming your beard under your neck is selling out to the man. go grizzly man style!
that is all |

I should add that what qualifies for a beard in the Cheeseman is barely a step above designer stubble - I have fair hair and if I don't shave it just looks dirty.
I also want to apologise for the combover style hair in the first, not sure whats going on there.

I know which of those two shirts I prefer, that's for sure.

I think they're both nice shirts, actually.
As for the beard, I think it's a matter of whether you feel like shaving often. If you don't, go ahead and grow the beard.

I say shave for the next two weeks, then grow the beard back in honor of some noble cause like your team vying for the world series. Vow not to shave again until you are either victorious in your cause or crushed into oblivion. Then you can either shave it or keep it as your mood warrants. Oh, and make sure you don't succomb to any pressure from Ms. Cheeseman (if there is one). This is your decision, not hers, so don't forget that.

Beard This was my beard last Christmas. I shaved it off in March, but thought I looked ill and weird without it so I grew it back. It's pretty much the same now, but not as messy. I've had doubts about keeping it, but it's like having a plant you have prune and tend to, which is fun ;). I put the leaves in the picture ages ago just for fun. Actually, I've always wanted to look like Will Oldam on the record cover where he has the huge beard or the guy from the Eels when he had that Uni Bomber look! Join the Cult of |

Yeah it is so weird when you shave the beard and then your upper lip looks like you had a two inch skin graft put in where there used to be nothing odd and you cannot help but continue to stare at it. I say go all out for that uni-bomber look rumours. Looks pretty fucking cool to me. Not you cheeseman, it may take a little too long with that fair hair.

Cheeseman, I'd go for the shaved head/bearded combo look, unless you have look neat for work, forunatly I don't. Denis, a Frank Black and the Catholics t -shirt is a far superior garment then what I'm wearing in that picture plus Tre, I've been listening to the About a Boy soundtrack alot lately, so something must be happening there !

Keep the beard Tony. If you are hired, you don't want to have to remain clean shaven for the rest of your career.
On a different note, I wish I could grow a beard.

Ha!
No, there isn't.
I decided on the lazy approach, and keepin' it stubbly for now. Trim to grade 1 every few days suits me. Jason, I did explain that it was barely a beard - it's more noticable in the flesh.

By the way, Simon, I think a goatee might be a viable choice, especially if you want to attract the Canadian female.

Fat people and goatees don't mix (nothing to do with you Cheeseman)! You actually look pretty good with one Cheeseman, have you ever considered a handle bar mustache, that would be my ultimate goal in life, to be able to wear one proudly without strange looks from people .

I sold out after 4 months and opted to go clean cut, too. I'm starting over soon, and it's not coming off for the relatives at Christmas.
I never realized that having a full, nappy beard is more work than shaving every couple of days. Every day, shampoo, combing, filling it with food during lunch, emptying food from beard after lunch, using 5x as many napkins. It's the biggest pain in the ass, but it's the price you pay for looking so damn cool.
Oh but shaving it was really fun. I got to make all those cool American Chopper designs before I finally cleaned it all off. _____________________ Boy, you sure can holler. |
