After the tragic attack on 9/11 and the war on terrorism, I don’t know why Islam remain the fastest-growing religion in America and in the world although religion is no longer dominates everyday life in Western society.
Millions of people read Koran (Quran) in the Internet and visited Islamic sites.

Islam Attracts Converts by the Thousand, Drawn Before and After Attacks

"Islam is the fastest-growing religion in America, a guide and pillar of stability for many of our people..." Hillary Rodman Clinton, Los Angeles Times, May 31, 1996, p.3

Famous people are affected too:

The fact now Americans and Western are converting by thousands to Islam (in US a rate of 100,000 a year), I don't think most of it is in the prisons like Mohammad Ali, but there is a great amount of conversion to Islam in American prisons and outside.

From what I've heard from different friends of mine who have converted to Islam, there are a few main reasons for most conversions:

1. Muslims and Christians agree that God is self-existent.  This means that He does not derive his existence from anyone. also they both believe in Jesus, love him, and honor him. In fact, no Muslim can be a Muslim unless he or she believes in Jesus, on whom be peace.

The Quran teach that Jesus is prophet or messenger from Allah and not a God so Quran denies the divinity of Jesus. The Qur'an says that Jesus was born of a virgin, that he spoke while he was still only a baby, that he healed the blind and the leper by God's leave, and that he raised the dead by God's leave.

2. Islam is a religious lifestyle, not just a quick Sunday morning church visit and a label. Although some Christians do pray before each meal and spend much time with their Bible, etc.many don't in the USA. Islam is something that can't be shunted into a few spare hours. You pray five times a day. Your dress code is affected; even your food choices are explained in the Qur'an. Many converts like it because they feel actively involved and as if they are truly religious.

3. For women, it is a big and welcome change from the "in your face" sexuality of western culture. Women are not required by the Qur'an to veil. They are required to dress modestly and it is *recommended* that they cover their hair. However, most do veil and some go farther with niquab (the face screen) or other traditional clothes. Women dressed like this consider themselves marked as religious women, not easy dates. They don't get hit on. No one gawks at their bodies. They are clearly off limits sexually and many that I personally know say it is liberating not to have to conform to western standards of sexy dress, makeup and spending so much time and money on appearance. You buy a five-dollar hijab, put your hair in a ponytail and cover, wear long skirt and a tunic shirt -you're set.

4. Islam is also growing because many people are not satisfied with Christianity. They feel it is too liberal, too fluid and changes for the culture. Islam on the other hand is more rigid and does not as a whole allow much for modern changes and the whims of society. Many like it because they feel other religions have loose standards.

That's what I got from the new Muslimah's group at Yahoo, Islamway women's board and a few other friends of mine. Stats taken by many college groups say that women convert 4 times more often then men.

I think every religion claims to be the fastest growing religion on earth, it justdepends how you measure it.

If you go by how many new places of worship are popping up, then sure Islam will win - Christianity is an established religion, and has so many feckin' churches, that if they built any more, they would probably out number houses.

You cannot steer people's personal faith. Islam is now a part of western culture, wheither you like it or not. It's not just for people in prison, or rock stars looking for a new thing. Some people just associate with Islam more than Christianity. That does for the other side of things too - 70% or so of Americans are Christians, and although many don't like that, it's just the way it is. It's a fact, it can't be changed, and those people are entitled to follow their faith. Acts in the name of christianity have been responsible for some pretty fuc.ed up consequences in the last 20 years.

olfa, are you a christian, muslim or some other denomination? Is the female conversion rate to Islam often because women marry a muslim? As starmekitten already asked, are you interested in a discussion, or are you trying to convert us. I for one am teetering on the edge.

By the way, Allah is merely the pagan "Moongod". Check out for more info... and think of the "satanic verses" who directly refer to the daughters of the Moongod...

I don't outbid on Islam .Islam a brilliant religion by itself and doesn't need me or any preaching or missionary work. i wrote in this community not to convince people to be converted to Islam because this is completely their choice and believe which I respect very much, i have participated to correct the picture and reputation which have been intentionally ravaged by west media.

I really don’t like misunderstanding of my intentions in this post .It is not an assault on Christianity or any other religion. It is indispensable for me to look for the truth and study comparative religion because if I would like to know whether a religion is true or false, I should not depend on my emotions, feelings, or traditions. Rather, I should depend on my reason and intellect. When God sent the prophets, He supported them with miracles and evidences, which proved that they were truly prophets, send by God and that the religion they came with was true.

We cay say there are so many sects, cults, religions, philosophies, and movements in the world, all of which claim to be the right way or the only true path to God. How can one determine which one is correct or if, in fact, all are correct? The method by which the answer can be found is to clear away the superficial differences in the teachings of the various claimants to the ultimate truth, and identify the central object of worship to which they call, directly or indirectly.

Can we either claim that all men are Gods or that specific men were God or that nature is God or that God is a figment of man's imagination.

It may be argued that all religions teach good things so why should it matter which one we follow. I made some searching and I couldn’t find a sharp answer but I found something interesting stated in the Koran:
Creation-worship is the greatest sin that man can commit because it contradicts the very purpose of his creation. Man was created to worship Allah alone, consequently, the worship of creation, which is the essence of idolatry, is the only unforgivable sin. One who dies in this state of idolatry has sealed his fate in the next life. This is not an opinion, but a revealed fact stated by Allah in his final revelation to man

"Verily Allah will not forgive the joining of partners with Him, but He may forgive (sins) less than that for whom so ever He wishes"(Soorah An- Nisaa 4:48 and 116)

Buddha was a reformer who introduced a number of humanistic principles to the religion of India. He did not claim to be God nor did he suggest to his followers that he be an object of worship. Yet, today most Buddhists who are to be found outside of India have taken him to be God and prostrate to idols made in their perception of his likeness.

God revealed a holy book to Jesus called the Injeel, some parts of which may be still available in the teachings of God to Jesus in the New Testament. But this does not mean that the Bible we have today because it is not the original scriptures that were revealed by God. They underwent alterations, additions, and omissions. This was also said by the Committee charged with revising The Holy Bible (Revised Standard Version). This Committee consisted of thirty-two scholars who served as members of the Committee. They secured the review and counsel of an Advisory Board of fifty representatives of the co-operating denominations. The Committee said in the Preface to The Holy Bible (Revised Standard Version), p. iv, “Sometimes it is evident that the text has suffered in transmission, but none of the versions provides a satisfactory restoration. Here we can only follow the best judgment of competent scholars as to the most probable reconstruction of the original text.
The Committee also said in the Preface, p. vii, Notes are added which indicate significant variations, additions, or omissions in the ancient authorities (Mt 9.34; Mk 3.16; 7.4; Lk 24.32, 51, etc.).

Quran

Chapter No 005
Titel The Table Spread

005/116. And when Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary! Didst thou say unto mankind: Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah? he saith: Be glorified It was not mine to utter that to which I had no right. If I used to say it, then Thou knewest it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy mind. Lo! Thou, only Thou art the Knower of Things Hidden.

005/117. I spake unto them only that which Thou commandedst me, (saying) : Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou tookest me Thou wast the Watcher over them. Thou art Witness over all things.

005/118. If Thou punish them, lo! they are Thy slaves, and if Thou forgive them (lo! they are Thy slaves). Lo! Thou, only Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.

005/119. Allah saith: This is a day in which their truthfulness profiteth the truthful, for theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they are secure for ever, Allah taking pleasure in them and they in Him. That is the great triumph.

--------------------------------

Chapter No 004
Titel The Women

004/157. And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger They slew him not nor crucified, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture ; they slew him not for certain.

004/158. But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, wise.

004/159. There is not one of the People of the Scripture but will believe in him before his death, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness against them

004/170. O mankind! The messenger hath come unto you with the truth from your Lord. Therefor believe; ( it is) better for you. But if ye disbelieve, still, lo! unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth. Allah is ever Knower, Wise.

004/171. O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three". Cease! (it is) better for you! Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His transcendent majesty that he should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender

------------------------------------------

Chapter No 003
Titel The Family of Imran

003/055 Behold! Allah said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.

003/059 The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he was.

------------------------------------

----------------------------------------

In the Gospel According to Matthews, 26:39 (King James Version) we are told that Jesus 'fell on his face and prayed' to God. And in the Gospel According to John, 17:3, Jesus declares that the one he prayed to is the only true God.

This very God speaks to us in these last days in His final Scripture which He will safeguard from corruption. God announces in His book good news to all those who believe in Him and do right. He says:“ Surely those who say: Our Lord is Allah and afterwards are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the Paradise which you are promised. We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter. There you will have (all) that your souls desire, and there you will have (all) for which you ask. A gift of welcome from the Forgiving, the Merciful” (Quran 47:2).

“ Those who believe and do good works and believe in that which is revealed unto Muhammad - and it is the truth from you Lord - He rids them of their ill - deeds and improves their condition. That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood and because those who believe follow the truth from their Lord” (Quran 47:2).

Accept this invitation, therefore, and enjoy a life of peace and satisfaction on earth, then everlasting life in the paradise of God. The true Scripture promises all this to those who choose no other god except the One True God who was worshipped by Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them). The truth has now come to you from your Lord! Wont you accept it?

Olfa seriously, if you're using your intellegence you'd have looked about the forum to see if any of these ideas of Islam you're trying to dispell actually exist, and you would have phrased it better. By making an initial post of why Islam is good and why people convert without opening your particular line of discussion it does read like a conversion attempt, I'm sorry you don't like we jumped to that conclusion but based on your earlier posts it's an easy conclusion to get to.

This isn't the first time someone has done this here, people google Catholics and come up with this site because it's the name of the band, and not really anything to do with the religion.

Sorry all.

Finally the natural inclination for religious faith is an integral part of the human essence. This is an indisputable fact of history. All scholars of comparative religion, regardless of their own religious backgrounds, agree that religious belief is a natural human condition. They differ, however about its origins.

the human being has a natural tendency to seek out something to worship and that there is a natural feeling that this object of worship must possess greatness.

pagan societies always worship a plurality of beings – never restricting themselves to worshipping, for example, one mountain or one star – is an indication that man, in reality, naturally seeks an overwhelming Higher Power and compensates for this by taking a collection of deities. This shows that he feels a need for a power outside of his natural environment that he can turn to when all the material powers around him fail.

The phenomenon of religion, that manifests itself in a quest for a Higher Power, is universal to mankind. It cannot be substituted for by any other human affection, like self-preservation, tribalism, or nationalism. Likewise, there have been a number of religious people in the world possessing genius who are not appeased merely by the strength of feeling that they have for something unknown. It would be possible to declare these brilliant people as insane if this unknown that they believed in did not deserve the attention of every human being, but the reality is that this unknown is more deserving of attention than all other things in existence.

This religious sense has achieved a great importance in the intellectual life of man, whereby the world of the unseen has become part of what man can believe in for his practical life instead of merely belonging to the world of imagination and fancy.

This was an intellectual victory, since the effects of this were not restricted to the world of religious beliefs and creeds, but extended to all existence, opening the doors of research in all things that cannot be perceived by the senses. If mankind had continued to deny everything that he could not perceive with his senses, religion would not have been the only thing to suffer; quite the contrary, the sciences, ethics and other branches of knowledge would have lost out as well.

Allah is the creator of mankind and therefore knows his nature more intricately than mankind himself. Allah has therefore chosen a religion that goes neither to the extremes of hardship nor of laxity, but instead provides a middle path; in other words, a religion of ease. Allah said;

"Allah intends for you ease, and does not want to make things difficult for you" [2:185]; and "Allah does not want to place you in difficulty" [5:6].

Quran
Surah No 36
Title: Ya-Sin

1. Ya Sin.
2. By the wise Quran,
3. Lo! thou art of those sent
4. On a straight path,
5. A revelation of the Mighty, the Merciful,
6. That thou mayst warn a folk whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless.
7. Already hath the word proved true of most of them, for they believe not.
8. Lo! we have put on their necks carcans reaching unto the chins, so that they are made stiff necked.
9. And We have set a bar before them and a bar behind them, and (thus) have covered them so that they see not.
10. Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not, it is alike for them, for they believe not.
11. Thou warnest only him who followeth the Reminder and feareth the Beneficent in secret. To him bear tidings of forgiveness and a rich reward.
12. Lo! We it is Who bring the dead to life. We record that which they send before (them), and their footprints. And all things We have kept in a clear register.

Atheists are Polytheists!

An atheist is said to be someone who denies the existence of the Creator. This is a good definition, provided that we mean by it that the creator whose existence they deny is the only God ofreligion, the one true Creator. Otherwise, atheists do believe in creators, albeit they do not recognize them under that appellation. This is so because atheists, in their endeavor to find alternatives to God for explaining the existence of the temporal things we see around us, invent some imaginary entities and give them some of the essential attributes of God.

Thus materialistic atheists used to believe in matter as such a god. But this matter-god of theirs is not the matter with which we are familiar in our daily life; it is something that is eternal and everlasting, hence the statement, which used to masquerade as a scientific fact, “matter is neither created nor destroyed.” But when you ask them to point this eternal and everlasting matter you discover that they are only chasing a will-o’-the-wisp. The matter that we can recognize and to which we can point is matter in the form of the large heavenly bodies, in the form of earthly physical things, and in the form of the constituents of these things: molecules, atoms, subatomic particles, photons, etc., none of which is eternal. Atheistic materialists used to believe in an eternal matter behind all such material things which come and go, but the advent of the “big bang” theory shattered all hopes in the existence of such matter. Scientists now believe that everything—matter, energy, even space and time—had a beginning. In fact they speak about a moment of creation of all these things.

Another such imaginary god is Nature (with a capital N). The nature with which we are familiar is the totality of natural things. But when we are told that Nature does this or that, as atheists are prone to say, we find ourselves at a loss. What is this Nature? If it be the one we know, how can it cause or create itself? But if it is something else, then we want to have proof of its existence.

The same applies to Evolution. Now evolution, scientifically speaking, is “[t]he gradual process by which the present diversity of plant and animal life arose from the earliest and most primary organisms…” (Concise Science Dictionary) But the Evolution of the atheists is not this process; rather it is the agent which brings about the process. Only in this unscientific and imaginary sense can evolution take the place of God; otherwise, a believer who accepts the theory of evolution can easily reconcile it with his belief in God, by saying that that process is itself the work of the Creator.

There are, on the other hand, atheists who say in a misleading way that they believe in God; but on inspection, their god turns out to be the god of the atheists. I am referring here to people like Einstein, who is said by some to have been a believer, but whose god was in fact not God the Creator in whom we all believe. Einstein declared that he believed in “Spinoza’s god,” i.e. in a god that is identical with the universe, and who does not thus interfere from outside in its working. “The man who is thoroughly convinced of the universal operation of the law of causation, “says Einstein, “cannot for a moment entertain the idea of a being who interferes in the course of events.” [Quoted by Hans Kung, Does God Exist? Vantage Books, 1981, p. 629]

That's a pretty narrow-minded view of atheism. All atheists have in common is one thing that they don't believe. There's no requirement that an atheist has to accept the Big Bang theory, or any of the other stuff you mention here.

Besides, I'm pretty sure the idea behind the Big Bang is that all the matter in the known universe was condensed into a single point, not that all that matter came out of nothing. Besides, matter can change into energy, and vice versa.

Allah is the creator of mankind and therefore knows his nature more intricately than mankind himself. Allah has therefore chosen a religion that goes neither to the extremes of hardship nor of laxity, but instead provides a middle path; in other words, a religion of ease. Allah said;
"Allah intends for you ease, and does not want to make things difficult for you" [2:185]; and "Allah does not want to place you in difficulty" [5:6].

'I believe in the excellent joy of the pong.'
Frank 2, Chapter I, verse 2

Is this site idolism or congregation?

This man who makes music I like,

who fronts a musical group who are called the Catholics,

sings music which mostly is not overtly religious in Nature.

'Goodbye, I’m blowing a kiss to you'
