For those of you going to these shows, Mark Mulcahy is absolutely incredible, one of the greatest pop songwriters ever and in my opinion the best male pop vocalist alive. So if your going to these shows BE SURE to get there on time to see him open up, and PAY ATTENTION. I guaruntee you'll be blessed and amazed by his set!

In my opinion, yes, much better than the Pixies. He was indeed the lead singer and co-songwriter for Miracle Legion. His solo work sounds nothing like what he did with Miracle Legion, however. And yes, Scott Boutier and Dave McCaffrey played with Miracle Legion for a while, as well as Polaris, which was just Mark Mhulcahy, Dave, and Scott.

Cool, I haven't heard any of Miracle Legion, Polaris or the solo work of Mark Mulcahy. What's it like Nimrod? Any tips on albums and or songs? Would like to check them all out and if you could name a starting point thatd be great! |

For Miracle Legion you really can't go wrong, although their album Drenched, which Scott and Dave played on, is much inferior to their other albums. Surprise Surprise Surprise, thier first full length LP, is an excellent, more hard-edged album, and then my personal favourite, Me and Mr. Ray, leans more toward what Mark has done with his solo career with much more intimate, stripped down songs. Then there's also The Backyard, their first EP, which is great, and Portrait of a Damaged Family from 1997 and an album called Glad, which I've never heard, but I believe it's just a live performance or something.
Now Mark's solo work is much different as I've said. He has three full-length albums and one EP. His first album, Fathering has a very dark, haunting, and intimate feeling to it. He plays all the instruments and does all the vocals, and the songs are incredible. I absolutely love this album! But his second album Smilesunset is in my opinion his masterpiece. He has other people playing on this one and the songs and production are brilliant. He just released another album several months ago entiltled In Pursuit of Your Happiness, which is an incredible album, but I don't think it wuite measures up to his other two. You really can't go wrong, but I would probably start with Fathering and work my way up if I were you.
