Good reviews overall... Buzz...
But in terms of figures, does the albums sell well more than 1 week after its release???

Donīt know if thatīs possible, but I think it would be interisting to see, how HC sells
- overall - via soundscan - countrywise or at least labelwise - in France, where itīs out since the 4th of July |

Well, there is a difference between the performance of HC in different (official, unofficial, country, whatever) charts and the actual sales figures it produces. Donīt you think?
Maybe itīs not that big a difference, to justify different threads. But maybe it is... |

Yea...there is a difference....I am not all that interested in stupid ass chart numbers, but something like actual album sales is a wee bit more tangible.
...and different.

i have mailed cooking vinyl to suggest putting promo stickers on the covers of the 2nd round of releases - i am sure that will help sales. i mean.. NME 8/10, Mojo 4/5, Uncut 4/5, EntIreland 4/4. THAT would look great. incidentally HMV in Dublin have shifted a few copies so far which is good news.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I bought mine just yesterday...I had a few other things going on last week! And it was the last one; would love to know how many they had to begin with...and who bought them...hmmm potential friends?
But glad to have it!

Here in the U.S. we had a very good first week in sales, fyi. Much appreciated those of you who spent. For those who waited, it would be nice if our second week was as good or better.

Exactly how did it do during the first week?

I might be a little selfish, but I don't care about the numbers and other people owning this album. If they do, then yipee. Maybe I can adopt the 'I told you so' or 'I was here first' attitude.
All I care about it having a printed album in my hands. |

I was surprised to find it in WAL-MART! I don't shop WAL-MART but was in one with a co-worker Monday when I decided to check on a whim. Lo, and behold...HONEYCOMB! We then went by TARGET...and there it was! Fancy that. Frank in the 'select' group! Pretty darn cool.

When I got my copy yesterday at Borders there were only two copies left. I am guessing they certainly received more than just two copies to begin with. I was really happy to see it was selling. |

I bought the only copy at the Virgin Mega Store in Times Square...now I have no idea if that means they sold out of all their copies at the time, or they only had one to begin with...Im betting on they sold out... |

I got an e-mail directly from Mario Martin at Back Porch Records, and he said it's the, quote, "best sales for a solo frank black record out of the box to date."

I've been telling my friend to get that TOTY for 8, great value for a double album. But they didn't have HC the day it came out, I had to get mine in HMV.

That's a good idea. It will prob take a few weeks/months to get something like that in market. (I have prev work exp. with something similar), but that is a huge idea. (One of the challenges depending how things are distributed might be with languages: e.g. some places such as Montreal/Quebec will require French Labling)Variabale costs (co-packing costs and the cost for the new sticker will) go up but running an NPV analyisis will more than likely determine that the increased sales that will result from the stickering will more than outweigh the costs associated with it.) The design cost of the sticker would be a minimal one time fixed cost.
It's been cool seeing all the advertising for it and it's great it's gotten such diverse distribution. As we all know Frank fans are everywhere!!
I guess another thing to keep in mind for the next album is developing stand alone displays, shelf signage (aka shelf talkers or just an insert that draws attention in the cd bins). In addtion to the instore signage already mailed out to the out lets selling this. Another promo idea would be info on the floor leading consumers to the album too. just some ideas.
I have to make it to purchase two more copies... last week was crazy, so I still haven't done that.
We got the green light for like our radio program on FB and Honeycomb. Right now, the date will be in mid to late Sept. Never late than never and then that way, that might be good timing for people to get HC on their Holiday wish lists. |

HMV in dublin are moving a good few copies - in fact its no. 40 in their in store chart which is great, considering they are having a bit of a sale on at the moment. nice.

European sales seem to be going well. I have just received this note from Bob at Cooking Vinyl:
"Sales... Its already outsold the total amount sold for SMYT since that was released."

Hey, that is cool! So it's official now. Frank is touring europe with the HC cats!
I would still like to see the actual sales numbers, though. How much did SMYT sell till today in europe? |

I get the feeling SMYT did not sell that well. For some reason, the label is unwilling to give out exact sales figures for albums, but Bob at CV has confirmed that Honeycomb has already sold about 1000 more than the total acheived by SMYT.

Yeah, I don't know about the recording industry, but the industries that i've worked in... sales # are kept confidental and inside the company. so maybe it's like that 4 the recording industry.
