This is condiments week on fb.net. Today we bring you the best condiment, nay a food group in and of itself, if not a reason for living. Behold, mayo!

I really dig mayo with French fries... It definitely beats ketchup which is cheap for me.

I don't mind mayo, but if I put it in a sandwich I often feel nauseous a short time later. The only other time I eat it is with a baked potato and tuna. Maybe I just have rubbish mayo.

Uggh! There's nothing I hate more than mayonnaise. Absolutely revolting! The worst condiment ever created!

Mayo on fries is the way forward - even better is when you mix it with chutney but that's a very South African thing.
The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it. |

Kathryn, I almost started this topic yesterday after your KETCHUP phenomenon took off. You are finally finding your niche in topics after scrambling and sinking with rehashed subjects! ( just kidding, of course! I ALWAYS read your threads!)
Anyhow, I must admit, as ketchup can be a delight, I find mayonnaise to be a total terror of tastebud torment. The stuff sickens me...makes my skin crawl, even...bleeeccchhh!!! My mother used to slather it on my sandwiches. I had to make mayo once in high school economics, and my teacher made me eat it! A friend would put it on his fries with relish. I did not relish that. It is a horrible thing to me, mayonnaise.
And yet...I love potato salad...the tortures of the damned!!
I was alone...in my BIG BED

Only you needed to edit your edit. Sorry, not being nit-picky, just thought it was ironic!
Anyway, I dislike mayonnaise...but like others have noted, there are some foods that just wouldn't work without it: tuna salad, potato salad, among them.

*Dear lord, thank you for making some people forget my ill-advised "what is in your drawer" thread. *
Brian, why don't you pick tomorrow's condiment/thread, as Condiments Week continues in General Chat?

Mayo is okay although I rarely eat it. A bit greasy for my taste. But speaking of ketchup - I know people who like to mix ketchup and mayo together and just eat it like that with a spoon (ugh... yuck...). I never tried it myself but somehow the idea is not too appealing. Any thoughts on that? Anyone tried it? (Anyone liked it?) |

I tried that, straight off a spoon, on a dare. Long story. It tasted like Russian dressing. That fateful night I also won another dare - that I wouldn't eat two brownies slathered in mayo. Which I did. And strangely enjoyed. I will eat my shoe if it's got mayo on it, I love mayo so much.
Favorites: • Straight up Hellmans • Garlic mayo (freshly crushed garlic) • Basil mayo
Anybody make their own mayo? Seems so time consuming. Is it worth it?

I love mayo, it's my favourite dressing, I made my own mayo with my minipimer, and with fresh garlic it's excellent, with toast bread git garlic too.
for the commercial mayo's I'd rather tha Kraft mayo.
Tasty topic!!

Kraft mayo vs. Hellman's mayo? Hellman's kicks ass!

mm easy, first you have to own this:
http://www.braun.com/na/products/fooddrink/foodpreparation/handblenders/mr5000.html
then you only have to put in the can an egg, 250 ml of oil, salt, lemon, a little of mustard, blend..anf that's it, really easy
this is the base mayo, then you can add garlic, or ciboullete, olives..many things!! |

the secret of mahonesa, as it is originary of Mahon, Balearic island. is olive oil, otherwise sucks. another secret is knowing how slow you must rise the minipiner, and if you can use a slow speed also helps as some lemon juice, garlic and parsley. With more garlic its called ali-oli. There is also the belief that women cant make it during her period as it always get spoilt.

I was going to say that, but it would have been kinda egocentric if I did.

HAHAHA!!! It's even sillier than my silly song. It would have been incredible. Have you already burned them?
I have an amusing story (it is amusing NOW. It wasn't at all at the time) concerning this song. I'll always hate it.
PS: That cover is reason enough to have brought the pictures back again to the forum.
