The Pixies are playing at "the Egg" in Albany New York.
I don't think it's on this site, but it's listed on ticketmaster.
A friend told me it's an acoustic set as well, but i'm not positive.
It's a smaller venue, and I am so there! |

Do you know for sure if it's acoustic? Could be a determining factor for me. Thanks.

Determining factor my ass...It appears if they are within 12 hours of driving time from you, you're gone...In fact, I've been meaning to talk to you about this obssession of yours. You know you don't have to go to every Pixies show in the northeast, including Canada.
Acoustic, a determining factor, yeah right!

My research indicates they're playing at the Hart theater (part of The Egg) which seats 982 so I'll wager it's acoustic and that it'll sell out quick. Hope I'm able to purchase on line with my painfully slow computer. Seeing as they keep going back on tour without a new album they would have to do a little reinterpretation to keep things fresh. With a little luck I'll be there. http://www.theegg.org/index.php Within a certain radius of travel I'd go see the Pixies if they were acappella, with a symphony orchestra or wearing orange jumpsuits and garbage can lids. I'm not sure how I feel about it though, the proof's in the pudding and this is uncharted pudding. |

I've heard there's not a bad seat in the house, hope I get tickets. I'm hoping for an evening of acoustic Pixies, is there any confirmation of this? |

B! It looks like there are only 16 rows after the pit, my wife saw John Hiatt there a few years ago and reports that the seats are plush and roomy and the sound is great. This could be a very civilized evening of the acoustic musical stylings of the Pixies. Looks a lot like an acoustic warm up for Newport, hope so. |

The opening act is Mark Mulcahy formerly of Micacle Legion, he performs solo, possibly acoustic. He's also opening in Atlantic City which makes me think that show might be acoustic as well. Is formal attire required? |

This show looks like it'll be special.
And your comment on the symphony orchestra reminded me of a CD I saw at Tower awhile back, something like, The String Quartet Covers the Pixies. Pretty freaky looking shit if you ask me, but you can't judge a CD by it's cover/title.
Enjoy the show

So, I bet you're really Jones'n for some more of those Pixies' shows that you've become addicted to, huh! Where is your addiction taken you to this week Kathryn,...oh yeah, Albany and New Port...huh! So what's next, some European shows perhaps?

Pixies, Beck, Oasis Head 'Across The Pond'
By Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Some of the top names in rock have signed on for the inaugural Across the Pond concerts, which will be held simultaneously at Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island, N.Y., Billboard.com can reveal. Both venues will host shows on Oct. 1-2, with the Pixies, Oasis, the Killers and Beck set to appear on yet-to-be-determined bills.
Other early confirmations for Across the Pond include Gang Of Four, Jet, Belle & Sebastian and the New York Dolls. "The complete lineup of talent will be staggering," says Jim Glancy, president of show promoter Ron Delsener Presents.
Pixies, Oasis head 'Across the Pond'
The inaugural Across the Pond concerts have received major boosts with the news that some of the top names in rock have signed on to perform.
The concerts are set to be held simultaneously at Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island, N.Y., on October 1-2. Both shows wil feature major acts, including the Pixies, Oasis, the Killers and Beck set to appear on yet-to-be-determined bills.
Other early confirmations for Across the Pond include Gang Of Four, Jet, Belle & Sebastian and the New York Dolls. "The complete lineup of talent will be staggering," says Jim Glancy, president of show promoter Ron Delsener Presents.
A discount will be available for fans purchasing tickets to more than one show; fans can also opt to attend a single concert.
Across the Pond joins the just announced Download Festival as new entrants to the American festival market. That event will be held October 8 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif., and feature the Killers, Modest Mouse, Doves and the Arcade Fire, among others. |

It's the only landmark I've heard of at the Egg so hey let's give it a shot. I've heard the only way into the Egg is by elevator and it looks like the Mothership. |

Evidently they also cover White Stripes, Tool, Nirvana, Coldplay, NIN & Radiohead. Sounds interesting.
Mark Mulcahy looks like great previously unheard of music, always a breath of fresh air for one's ears. |

Just for the record, here's another story on that Across The Pond thingy:
http://www.groovevolt.com/Newswires/newswire.asp?ID=1461
ACROSS THE POND CONCERTS TO FEATURE PIXIES, BECK, OASIS, AND MORE The Pixies, Beck, and Oasis are among the big names already confirmed for the inaugural Across the Pond concerts, which will take place at Staten Island, New York’s Richmond County Bank Ball Park, and Brooklyn, New York’s Keyspan Park October 1 and 2.
Both venues will host shows on both nights, though the specific bills for each location and date have yet to be determined. Jim Glancy, president of show promoter Ron Delsener Presents, said, “The complete lineup of talent will be staggering.”
In addition to the aforementioned groups, also confirmed at press time are the Killers, Gang of Four, Belle and Sebastian, and the New York Dolls.
Fans will be able to attend single shows or obtain discounted tickets if they purchase more than one show. |

Beck, Pixies, B&S to Play Across the Pond Fest
James Gregory reports: Yes kids, it looks like there's yet another mammoth rock festival on the horizon. (What, are they manufacturing these things in third world factories now?) Not content to sit back and let Perry Farrell bask in his post-Lollapalooza glory, a slew of hipper-minded artists have recently signed on for the inaugural Across the Pond Festival in New York City in early October.
While full details are still coming together, as a number of artists are still being courted for the event, Across the Pond is currently scheduled to feature performances by Beck, Pixes, Gang Of Four, Belle and Sebastian, the Killers, New York Dolls, Oasis, and Jet-- with Jim Glancy, of event promoters Ron Delsener Presents, promising, "The complete line-up of talent will be staggering."
Taking a page from the UK wondertwins Reading and Leeds, the two-day affair will be held simultaneously at Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island, N.Y., with shows at both venues set for October 1 and 2. It's still unclear as to how the groups will be divvied up between the locations, but we'll keep you posted as further developments come to light. We sure hope the Pixies and Gang of Four don't play at the same time-- our cred hurts just thinking about having to decide between the two.
In the meantime, Billboard is reporting that both single- and multi-day passes will be available for the shows, with a discounted rate being offered for the latter. No word yet on pricing, or whether the admission fees will include earplugs for Jet's performance. Or noseplugs for the stench of Staten Island.
