Summer's a great time of year. However, there are a few annoyances that are unique to summer. They include:

• mosquitoes (I got 5 bites on my face alone last night)
• men in sarongs -- a new one for me. Talk about terrifying.

What are your biggest complaints in the summer?

midges and clegs are pretty nasty buggers right now. I got a cleg bite on my neck and a gland swelled up bigger than the bite.

Also, if you say air conditioning here, people think you're talking about shampoo. On the few days a year when it's very hot, there's no way of keeping cool. Our house just traps the heat, which has been a nightmare the last couple of days when the kids have been ill.

And weeds, I hate weeding.

stores/restaurants that have 'summer hours' - can i take shorter hours for an entire fucking season? NO! i understand taking a week or a few days off here and there, but don't slack off for an entire season

"It's warm but still vastly preferable to winter coldness"

"It's the busiest time of year"

I'm really scraping the barrel to be honest, I love the summer.

How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Worse than men in sarongs? What the hell was that about today? I saw this guy at the pool walking around with a friggin sarong. It terrified so much I put my head right back down in the water.

i find it disappointing to see so many women wearing bathing suits, skirts and other minimal-coverage outfits. it saddens me that women feel the need to objectify themselves.

ever time i see a woman in a short skirt, or see-through summer dress, or ultra low cut pants, or a tennis skirt, or those really short-shorts they wear sometimes, or... you name it.. every time i see that it's like another step backwards for our movement.

you forgot to mention those daisy dukes that are back in style. those are horrific as well and a definite step backwards.

i salute you, new_floop!

I like rain not this oppressive left coast heat. The fires, I hate the f****** fires too.

I should move to Oregon or Washington but then I'd probably get tired of the rain. Hard to win.

Been able to avoid the clegs, wasps and skeeters though.

Did you exchange rain for sun, Mr. Grieves?

It rains too much here in summer.

Cheeseman, like you I can't think of a bad thing to say about summer - we should have it more often and it should be hotter.

In fact my biggest complaint about summer is that everyone complains about the heat - it's the nature of the beast ffsake!

The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it.

It was 1 degree hotter than Madrid here the other day (29). I don't like opressive heat, it drains your energy. Having said that, come winter I'll be begging for the summertime again! :D

Heat and sweating. I usually say I'd rather have heat than cold, but with the kind of heat we've been having recently, I can't say I'm so sure anymore.

I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied.
