It'd be easy to be cynical about this sort of thing, but its all kind of cool. Properly big stars, some decent music, some fun collaborations, a worthy cause. Bob Geldof's pretty cool.
Are you watching? Who's playing in your country, what are your highlights? Keane are on now (bleh), but Coldplay, U2 (with Paul MacCartney) and Youssou N'Dor (ignoring Dido) were pretty good. Elton John duetting with Pete Doherty on 'Children Of The Revolution' was fun too.
I'm looking forward to the Who, the Killers and definitely Pink Floyd.

Ah yeah, forgot REM. I'm sure Stipey's blue facepaint gets larger every time I see him. Kind of annoyed they cut to a Razorlight interview during 'Man On The Moon' though.

has anybody else noticed that they seem to be deliberately shying away from showing any of the videos going on the festival screens? |

Check it now, Annie Lennox's set. They're pretty much showing just the videos.

Brian Wilson's up next in Berlin! Does anyone know what time Pink Floyd is supposed to come on?

I think they're second last here, so maybe 9pm? I wouldn't like to say for sure, and I don't know what that works out as in foreign time.

I'm not convinced Snoop is definitely the right choice for a charity concert, wearing a gun medallion round his neck and singing about getting high and how he great he is...

I don't know about anyone else, but the Dogg - I'm way over that stuff man. Never thought he was worth a rat's ass.
Brian Wilson - didn't care for the arrangements and his voice is gone but oh well.
can you swing from a good rope? can you Mr. Grieves?,

Didn't care for the arrangements?! They're the same arrangements as always, although they may have had to change a couple of things up since they didn't have the string and horn section with them.

That Razorlight, eh? Every inch of me wants to hate them, and the singer I think runs purely on ego. But, I have to admit that the songs are decent, and they're made for a big stage like this, he works the crowd well.

I have seen bits of it and I have it on now. I am looking forward to Pink Floyd.
Pete Doherty duetting with Elton John for Children Of The Revolution was a nice surprise and Coldplay playing Fix You was the high point for me. Such a fantastic song.

The Killers were good, I thought they picked the best song for that setting, talk about good for singalongs.
I'll admit, girl that I may appear to be, I was very moved when they brought out the girl from the 1985 video. If you didn't see it, they replayed the video shown at the original Live Aid, and it finished on a really sick looking young girl, who apparently had something like ten minutes left to live (Geldof exaggeration maybe, I don't know). However, they announced that she'd just graduated from college in Ethiopia, and they brought her out on stage. Not a dry eye in the house.

Yes, it was moving and sincere, but it was quickly destroyed by Madonna.
How come we say Los Angeleez?

yeah, it was pretty emotional. I don't remember being affected like that first time round, but then I was only fifteen.
I thought Velvet Revolver were pretty good.

Disgusting though it sounds, you have to admire Robbie Williams as a performer. His songs tend to lowest-common-denominator ballads and lite pop-rock, but he can work a crowd like few others.

Pete Townshend's on good form, but I think we can safely say the Who will never replace The Ox.

Haha no but nobody ever seems to mention them anymore as a great band, a band they like. It doesn't seem cool to like them.
They are the band I grew up on, the band my dad passed to me so to speak, so I feel a certain affinity with them.

Heh Mike, there's at least two threads on here in the last few days! I know what you mean though, they're not very fashionable. But they are ACE. Which helps things.
