...I am so broke it's mesmerizing! I can't even afford to buy beer this weekend! I've been having so much car problems lately all my money has been going into that. Ugggh. So I've decided to hole up in my room, watch movies all weekend and drink codein as to sleep as much as possible. For food I shall eat spaghetti and frozen pizza.
Perhaps on Monday I shall use my American Express card to buy some beer. Last year's 4th was so much better. I spent a drunken weekend with friends in San Francisco. What are others plans?

I was alone...in my BIG BED

I love playing this song at 4th of July gatherings.

Well, a letter came today from the draft board
With trembling hands I read the questionnaire
It asked me lots of things about my mama and papa
Now that ain't what I call exactly fair

So I'm heading for the nearest foreign border
Vancouver might be just my kind of town
'Cause they don't need the kind of law and order
That tends to keep a good man underground

A sad old soldier once told me a story
About a battlefield that he was on
He said a man should never fight for glory
He must know what is right and what is wrong

So I'm heading for the nearest foreign border
Vancouver might be just my kind of town
'Cause they don't need the kind of law and order
That tends to keep a good man underground

Now, I don't know how much I owe my uncle
But I suspect it's more than I can pay
He's asking me to sign a three-year contract
I guess I'll catch the first bus out today

So I'm heading for the nearest foreign border
Vancouver might be just my kind of town
'Cause they don't need the kind of law and order
That tends to keep a good man underground
That tends to keep a good man underground

She's waitin' for me
when I get home from work
oh, but things ain't just the same
She turns out the light
and cries in the dark
won't answer when I call her name

On the stairs I smoke a
cigarette alone
Mexican kids are shootin'
fireworks below
Hey baby, it's the Fourth of July
Hey baby, it's the Fourth of July

She gives me her cheek
when I want her lips
but I don't have the strength to go
On the lost side of town
in a dark apartment
we gave up trying so long ago

On the stairs I smoke a
cigarette alone
Mexican kids are shootin'
fireworks below
Hey baby, it's the Fourth of July
Hey baby, it's the Fourth of July

What ever happened I
apologize
so dry your tears and baby
walk outside, it's the Fourth of July

On the stairs I smoke a
cigarette alone
Mexican kids are shootin'
fireworks below
Hey baby, it's the Fourth of July
Hey baby, Baby take a walk outside

It's a good song, but I don't know if it's one of my top 10 X songs. A little too passive.

You prefer the aggressive ones? Like "Real Chid of Hell"?

I do love the aggressive ones like "Johnny Hit and Run Pauline", but I also like the slower ones like "Blue Spark" or "The Have Nots". Do you have The Knitters album? I need to get that one? I love their country twangy songs.

I lost it in its vinyl form. It's good! Do you have her solo stuff? His? I do, it's good, not the same, but good.

The Have Nots has got to be one of my fave song ever. I named my kid after a line in that song....

JHRP - X

They used to play the Whiskey and Starwood a couple of times a week. Exene is so cool.

That L.A. scene was very CBGB. There were so many high energy bands - Germs, Dickies, Agent Orange, Red Cross, Black Flag, TSOL,CJ's, Adolescents. East L.A. trio, garage band, "The Plugz" could rock. Tito Larriva was cool. Talked to him at the Cuckoo's Nest after his show there in like 81. What a great guy.

Anyone remmember Costa Mesa's own, Cuckoo's Nest. Saw the Ramones there, 750 people tops. They blew the roof off.

Transmarine,
I feel bad for your weekend man. Hope it gets way better for you.
Working so mine will be the pits too. Everybody partying except me - *begins pity party now* - wails, clenches teeth, zzzzzz.

Can you bungee from a good rope?
Can you Mr. Grieves?

I had a BLAST at X's "reunion" show in Feb. of 98 at the Hollywood Palladium.

It was so emotional for me, not just to see them on stage together again and to be near Exene, from
whom I took my sartorial and make-up hints, but the audience blew me away. All the old punks were out,
people in their 30s and 40s. It was great. Anybody here go to that show?

I did. I had six safety pins thru my ears, just as I did in the 70s in Manhattan, baby!

And I still wear my jack boots. Well, not in this hot weather, but I still do. I still dress the same.
It's pathetic how little I've changed. Except for the safety pins.

So you didn't see that show, huh?

Exene wore a cardigan....

I only have an older John Doe solo album. Which like you say is good but not the same. I rarely play it. He's got a new one out.

I don't think I would like Exene a whole lot on her own.

The only X show I ever saw was something like 1992 in UC San Diego gym. Not the best spot for a show but still fun enough.

They've got a new live album out, which I think is their 3rd live album. Seems excessive, but I do like the Whiskey one.

What is it he says on that one? "Live at the Whiskey a Go Go on the fabulous Sunset Strip"?
So cool. Yeah, I had that same thought - 3 might be too much.

Her solo stuff - how do I say it? It's OK. It has its moments. Especially when her ex
plays guitar.

Maybe it's time for me to burn you another CD.

We did the same thing. Although I wanted Velouria Allison which are more titles than lyrics. My wife won out with Autumn Moon lyrics from Zeppelin's Ramble On.

aww trans been there done that.
soon it will all be a memory and you won't be counting days till payday.

not sure what we're doing. my boyfriend might have a gig, might not so things are up in the air (not an uncommon occurence in this household)

so i will either:
go see my boyfriend play
or
i will BBQ him a steak and me a salmon while we watch concert dvds and read/play scrabble/walk 4 blocks to see fireworks set off when it's dark
or
go to a friend's house because i dont' wanna drive two hours one way to go to a gig and spend all day in the car

"Well hello everbody. Welcome to the Whisky a Go Go on the fabulous Sunset Strip." That what John Doe says at the start. In the summer of 1991 that was about the only tape I played in my car. Killer.

I love "So Long (or whatever the title is)" at the end of that album:

Friends of mine had a mighty fine band
They played and they played across this great land
But the radio wouldn't their fine songs
So they packed up and moved to Wyoming

I found my X - Wiskey a go-go Cassette case the other day with no cassette in it. I am depressed. I was looking for it for the sticker that came with it (I never used it). No sticker and no cassette just an empty case.
