At the risk of this becoming a serious thread, I gave up caffeine about a year ago. I can't say I notice much difference, but the withdrawal was awful. Headaches were terrible.

See what coffee addicts are saying...
Withdrawal symptoms when quitting, becoming indignant at the idea of someone taking away their coffee, resorting to roasting beavers, etc.
Very similar to crack addicts.

I had to evade booby traps en route to Tesco - I honestly don't know if the Sir would've been up to it.

True, the lance would have been a hindrance. Unless, and I don't mean to presume, you carry one too Cheeseman.

Well of course I carry a lance - one has to navigate the yuppies in North London, y'know. The invisible bridge was tricky, but its a doddle once you're used to it.

I suspect an invisible bridge to Tescos is easier to navigate than a collapsing tunnel.
(I now have an image of you riding round London with a yuppie shish kebab )

I keep wanting to give up the caffiene but the pain frightens me. The headache that kicks in (and it's rare for me to get a headache, so even the slightest one is like death to me) around 10 is so bad that I cave in.
For those of you who have kicked the habit how long did the headaches last for? |

It took about 6 weeks for the headaches to go completely. I didn't realise what they were at first, then noticed that if I took some paracetamol with added caffeine, the pain went away much faster than straight paracetamol. I then tried drinking a weak coffee when I got a headache and that worked too. If you can't stand the headaches, don't go cold turkey, just gradually wean yourself off it. Finding an alternative drink helps too, 'cause the habit of drinking a cuppa is so ingrained. I now drink loads of green tea and herbal teas. Decaff is ok too, after a while you don't notice the difference. (waits for starmekitten's rant ;)

A good friend of mine equates decaff with non penetrative sex

fair comment, but if you don't have sex for ages, eventually even non-penetrative is better than nothing. maybe.

I think I'm going to have to deal with my own issues here. For some reason ordering decaff just seems like such a wuss option to me - but hey, gotta kick the beast somehow.
What probably doesn't help is that the 2 new guys in the studio seem to compete to see who can make me the most cups of coffee - or maybe they just like to see how much I'll drink. Little shits. |

play with their minds and only accept coffee from one. get the other to make you herbal tea.
I've pretty much stopped decaff, ultimately it was unsatisfying. I do still have the occasional coffee if we go out. It's easy to forget that you have to give up coke as well.

I don't drink coke, so that isn't going to be problem.
If I only accept coffee from one it'll appear to be favouritism - I can't have that, they're such eager lads. |

Am I the only one here who really doesn't drink caffeine, as a general rule? I mean, I don't like coffee, tea, or cola. So what's left? Well, Mountain Dew, I guess, but I don't even like that all that much.
