You know what?.. That damned album and especially that song is starting to grow on me, roaming in my head and my lips (which are on face) influencing once more my perception and my feeling of music these days... I was first moved by Lone child, then Sing for Joy and now this one...

Pretty good I think, but I gotta listen to this one again, I'll be back in France tomorrow, so I will buy the concrete album... It will be very different I think to hear the songs in an alternative order as we were given the wrong order...
Sex Dwarf, isn't it nice? |

I Burn Today sounds great, and it's Frank's Honeycomb fave. Seems like a good choice for a single, although I hav'nt heard the rest of the album tunes, so what do I know?! :D |

I am listening to Selkie Bride for the first time as I write this! Does the guitar opening remind anyone else of Announcement?

I've got to admit that Lone Child is a grower. Definitely one of the best (besides Strange Goodbye of course which really is above the lot). |

I like the song a lot. I'd have to say that simply referring to the legend of the Selkie wins a lot of points with me.
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

I found that "I burn today", and "Atom in my Heart" were the hooks... But I think as i listen to the Album more "Go find yr saint", is one the best songs that i have heard since Pray a little faster... I really Love This Album, One of his best. Up there with SMYT, and Dog.

For some reason the opening bars of Selkie Bride remind me of the opening bars of So Bay |

I don't know if it's general knowledge or has been discussed already, but I found this about selkies, which are creatures from irish and scotish folklore:
The shy Selkies are marine creatures in the shape of a seal. They can be found near the islands of Orkney and Shetland. A female can shed her skin and come ashore as a beautiful woman. When a man finds the skin, he can force the Selkie to be a good, if somewhat sad, wife. Should she ever recover the skin, she will immediately return to sea, leaving her husband behind. The male Selkies are responsible for storms and also for the sinking of ships, which is their way of avenging the hunting of seals.
Which makes the lines "Give me your coat. Then we'll fall in love in my boat" make sense. I love this song! Frank writes about the coolest things! |
