Hello everyone, I wasn't sure where to ask this question so I figured the Tabs & Musician Stuff was most apropriate. I was wondering if there were any websites or something that I could go to to find out more about what makes up surf rock. Surf rock theory, if you will. I would like to know what makes up surf rock, what are the common things present in all surf rock? Any information is much apreciated...

Can't tell you much about the theory of it, but I learned by doing and you can too. First get a record player, or snag one from your parents attic or basement (or grandparents as the case may be) and fumble through their record collection until you find something called The Ventures "Surfing" its got a blueish cover with a guy riding a wave with lots of goodies about surfing on the back. Best of all the recording in in pure mono! Put record on player and listen all the way through once and then learn each song one by one. When you are finished you will have learned surf theory less the Dick Dale double picking. It's very easy and lots of fun, and don't forget to turn the reverb all the way up.

Much as I don't want to plug my dissertation yet again, I did a bit of that: http://www.saeuk.com/research/briercliffe.pdf

How's that for a slice of fried gold?
