I'm sure this is not applicable to any of the sensitive and fair men of this forum and I don't mean to offend. But god damn sometimes I hate older men and their attitudes.
In the last couple of weeks, since I've been staying at home, I've heard a couple comments that pissed me off.
1. My father-in-law was over after his vacation to Mexico. I think he missed 2 weeks of preaching and was spewing it all over the place for the hour he visited. He was talking about his other son and how much money he makes but how he is always completely broke...he lives at home and has no bills but makes journeyman wage. Anyway the son is single and he said to Mike "Imagine how much money you'd have if you didn't have a wife." WTF!!!!! He didn't say family, he said wife. I said pardon me but I don't think I'm the one costing so much money, I've worked for the last 6 years fulltime and if it wasn't for me Mike would have all the money he makes spent on shit and furthermore if Mike didn't meet me he'd prolly be doing the same skiddy things he was doing before. (Mike said, yeah that's prolly true dad.) Pops quickly tried to back track but I was still pissed.
2. The other day the neighbour was chatting with me and asked how much time off I'd take off for this baby. I said at least the year that unemployment will cut me cheques for. He said that was nice and that I deserve a vacation. A vacation?! Yeah, 3 kids and a house to take care of is defo a vacation.
3. And then came yesterday where I lost it. My 11 year old was playing soccer and the assistant coach on the other team was fairly obnoxious. Always screaming at the boys. Anyway at one point he screams "You guys are playing like a bunch of girls!" Way to ingrain inferiority of girls in a bunch of 11 year old boys asshole. Not to mention there was tons of little girls running around the field and park, including my daughter. I wonder how he thinks that makes those little girls feel. I yelled out "hey watch it, that ain't even remotely cool at all!" and some other stuff. Only one other person said something. She said that our girls team had just won some gold medal. And the guy just ignored it. Yeah I'm thinking about complaining.
(Oh and I forgot, Mike's uncle made this comment after I said it was nice to finally stay home with the kids, and how busy it was trying to keep up before etc. "So you're having another one so you don't have to work???" Yeah his wife tuned him in there.)

Jesus! sometimes these boys club attitudes seriously suck, one story I am particularly fond of telling is about a guy on my course, when I first met him he was telling me how he came to do a masters because his boss was out to get him at his old job, he'd been to a conference and for some reason his boss decided he was a racist and he got warned for it, he turned to me and said, I'm so not a racist, I mean I've slept with loads of asian women....
.... wanker.
Complain Carolyn, kick some ass.

Yeah I think I will. I'll go find their community website.
My fave one was when I was a broke single mom student and my beater (car) needed some minor stuff done. I knew I needed new brakepads but M told me he'd change them to save me some cash. Well he procrastinated for way too long so I ended up bringing it in. He procrastinated for so long that I then needed new brakes instead of just brakepads. I got my dad to pick me up while my car was getting fixed and when the mechanic saw my dad he called him over (not me) to show him what his girl had let happen to her car.

These stories get my blood boiling!!!! Carolynanna you must complain! They keep doing these things because they have been allowed to get away with it. I remember many years ago I taught High School dance team. We used the gym for our practices and I was very responsible when it came to reserving the gym. Well, one day the "male" boys basketball coach had his team in the gym when I was scheduled for its use. I tried very respectfully to interact with the coach to explain the situation and he treated me so disrespectfully I about lost it. But instead I was going to somebody who had for more power than me. I went straight to the athletic director who as luck would have it, was friends with my father. I explained the situation and demanded that he speak to the coach and assure me it would not happen again. He did one better...he called the coach out of his classroom for a one on one. I got to totally vent to him about how desrespectful he was, and how he wasn't setting a good example to the young men. It was wonderful and I am happy to report he never showed up in the gym when I was scheduled and he was very careful about being nice to me from then on. |

Ah geez! Fixing it ASAP. I was so irritated at the "old boys" wasn't watching my typing very well (which actually isn't that abnormal). Why don't these forums have spell check?

On the other side of the coin, it's a Playgroup piss-up (booze cruise) next friday, and they've asked my wife to go. I don't get to go because I'm a bloke (I was told this), so they asked my wife instead. How fucking shit is that.
But yeah, blokes are morons and sexism is ingrained.

Okay I emailed the director of soccer for that community. We'll see what he says when and if he emails me back.

Don't assume all gay men are innocent. I've heard plenty of anti-straight/ anti-marriage jokes.

Carolyn, don't let a few rotten apples get you down. Or mixed metaphors, for that matter.
Most people have souls and brains. I'm sorry your father-in-law's a moron.
