I would say that's impossible to choose...
Right this very second, I would say Honeycomb or Go Find Your Saint

Well there's a perfect explanation for the shit that I've been in As soon as I find out I'll let you know
And if it's any consolation your horse is going to win Cause mine and all the others are just too slow
Can I add a lyric 'bout Frank or should this be a new topic? Anyway:
When I'm listening to Frank Black on my headphones Fazer Eyes melting my mind and burnin' thru my bones If my body don't pop I think my heart'll explode
The lead up to the guitar solo fade out Fires a desire for freedom and retires all doubt Lyle's lick can lift me up from under any load

Or what about the whole song? My favorite verse is the first.
Georgie Porgie used to get real high He used to kiss the world till it made him cry He was under the bottle's command But one winter he got it together and Happiness came with the warmer weather laying across all the land
He had a love she also liked to drink She got it together But you know what I think? I think she was still feeling glum
She took a gun and she shot him in the head She shot herself and so they were wed as the air conditioner hummed |

Winter blows through my coat It’s chilling my bones But it does not compare To your cold heart of stone
I pledged you my love And I gave you my car Now you're parking with him Yeah I know where you are
Your favorite perfume Well I gave you a tub Now you’re stepping out For your rubba dub dub
If ever you need Don’t call
I once had a dog Who ran from his home But that wasn't even close To your cold heart of stone |

Sitting here wishing on a cement floor Just wishing that I had just something you wore I put it on when I go lonely Will you take off your dress and send it to me?
I miss your kissin' and I miss your head And a letter in your writing doesn't mean you're not dead Run outside in the desert heat Make your dress all wet and send it to me
I miss your soup and I miss your bread And a letter in your writing doesn't mean you're not dead So spill your breakfast and drip your wine Just wear that dress when you're dying
Sitting here wishing on a cement floor Just wishing that I had just something you wore Bloody your hands on a cactus tree Wipe it on your dress and send it to me
Sitting here wishing on a cement floor Just wishing that I had just something you wore |

I agree with the sing for joy reference. When he says "and the air conditioner hummed" , I get a strange chill. My favorite line off of honeycomb.

I don't really have a favorite. I think that at some times a certain album might be more a favorite than others. Like for example pre Honeycomb it was the yellow/orange and TOTY. Then it was SMYT. Then it was FrankBlackFrancis. Then it was Honeycomb... which I adore to no end. But now it's more Pistolero and Black Letter Days.
It changes for what mood I am in and what's going on with my life but I would say off the top of my head I can't think of a single "bad" poetic lyric.

It is very difficult to contribute to this thread as there are so many aspects of Frank's lyrics that I love.
Sometimes he's so good at describing common feelings with simple words. Some of them are so powerfully evocative it is almost difficult for me to listen to them - like "we used to ride in it in this frozen town..." And this forum is the proof that it might be powerfully evocative to people from different countries, with various backgrounds etc - for Frank's art is pure universally subjective.
Sometimes it can be funny, arogant, or down-to-earth mystical (like Honeycomb).
Neverheless, if there is one thing to be remembered, I think it would be his way of bringing new topics to poetry so easily.
For example, who else could write "Ole Mulholland" or "Pie in the sky"? Or "Olympus Mons"? Or "St Frncis"?
I will show you fear in a handful of dust |

First I saw the digits crawling slowly up the rocky coast Just some seperated fingers looking for their fingerpost From the water jumped a bloody had needing desperately a host When I saw the bald bell ringers well I knew then that you were toast
He wants an altered state inside the mansion walls she says she'd rather wait yeah for evening to fall but still the cap they ate and with a drink they chased the ghost that called
Now it occured to me as he drove away D = R x T |

Remember when, I was almost ready?
But it was then, that I was already gone.
And I'm still around...
But who wants to listen to my voice in your prison? |

There's times I go East and there's time I go West I don't know which is best; I can never be pleased Someday I¹ll go down the Pan American Highway It was a promise we made to go all the way South

Down in the valley where there used to be the farms Doctor Digger found a room full of arms And now there's just a dog that barks (woo woo woo woo) Chained to a one man trailer park...

Robert 'The Case For Mars' Zubrin:
Robert leads me into thought Onion layers wait for you Bounty of eternal fields Every muscle knot I feel Robert tell me what to do Tell exactly what you're not, yeah
Tails pushing grand whales Heads hope to have the stuff Each flag had no sail
Can you believe enough? And though Diana calls to you She will never never yield Every siren has her spot
Four hundred million Oh that was very far Robert sweet Onion
Makes me feel so tired Another layer and layers and layer, oh no Robert can you find your way? Show me the way to come
Zugzwang got me in a way Under my opposing thumb Brandishing my shield Robert leads me into thought Into the dimming blue Nowhere in this world
