I have tea and baklava, and tonight I'm cooking paella.

How's that for a slice of fried gold?

I took a mini-vacation at a spa -- two massages, a facial and amazing food. And lots of chocolate-covered cashews. All good things.

I got my paycheck yesterday. Not much has happened so far today, though.

My friends baby girl was born healthy and screaming! chubby cheeks, a dimpled chin and big blue eyes! weighing in at 7lbs 8 ounces on the due date.

on the other side, I lost a bet.

This afternoon I swam an hour in the rain in a 63 degree pool (about 17 to you Celcius people) and when I got out all the lifeguards emerged in their hoodies from their warming hut and clapped and hollered and said I was the only person they'd had at the pool all day. My teeth literally chattered in the (very hot) shower. It was fun and cheering.

I spent the morning with my friend whose 26-year-old brother just committed suicide and it was actually a good thing in my life. Kinda hard but good, too.

I have two rowdy dogs. I spent a good part of the day walking them through the aboretum here in Boston. I love watching them run and play. I know it may sound freakish, but usually I would rather hang out with them than my human friends.

I passed a cow and the cow was brown. My pyjamas clung to me like a shroud! Like a shroud!

Shit, that's tough. It's funny how shocking things like this are really just a part of everyday life. Not your personal life, everyday (obviously). But it just happens.
