I didn't need my bedroom lightbulb to die just before I get ready for bed, then to swtich it off and spill cheesecake all over my carpet. I didn't need that.

Got a flat tire when I went out for lunch.

I'd never changed a tire before. Was done within 10 minutes.

-

Tires were looking pretty ragged, so I decided to replace all four.

$363.26 later. Argh!

Take a bite of the chocolate coffin.

I thought when people were about to die from a high fever they put them into icewater to try to bring down the temperature?

baths (even tepid/warm) cause poor temp regulation and too-rapid cooling, which will actually increase your fever when the body tries to compensate.

oops, so when my wife and I had a 40 and 39.8 degree temps respectively due to the flu, we shouldn't have had cold baths? In our defence, we were delirious.

The last thing I needed today was my daughter being awake several times during the night (for 90 mins once)waking up my 10 month old son into the bargain, and getting up with said son at 6:20am.

My daughter has consequently been miserable all day. :(

I love them muchly though.

So I'm trying to watch the French Open Federer and Nadal on cable and the match is delayed because of rain, by the time that it comes on they only air the 1st 2 sets and now the station is playing some crappy soap opera and ESPN are you meaningless golf tournaments. ESPN is airing the other men's semi final match that has already finished tonight, but they couldn't air that today on cable while waiting for the Federe match, so they showed Nadal's quaterfinal match. Only wimbledon and us open get any respect on basic cable television. Maybe not the last thing I need but certainly annoying...

Yesterday I didn't need to sit down and watch 8 and half innings of the Red Sox vs. the Orioles and then have my tape of the game end in the bottom of ninth. The Red Sox ended up winning the game on a homerun down by 1 with 2 outs and a full count. Too bad I didn't see it. I guess I don't have much to complain about.

of course you had to feel like shit that they had lost for awhile on top of it all right? I know my dad gets so pissed off and thinks the game is over anytime the other time gets a hit or a run. Sometimes he'll think theyre going to win if theyre up like 16-1 in the 9th inning. I guess that's what 65 years of conditioning will do to you...

I think my Red Sox mentality has been shaken by last year's win. I'm optimistic about the hitting, but don't trust Foulke right now. They were only down by a run and had the big boys coming up and were at Fenway, so I had hope. I thought something good was going to happen.

But, I've had less conditioning than your dad. I've only had about 28 years of being a Sox fan.

I like them a lot, obviously my favorite baseball team,

But it is another thing to set the Tone of an entire household upon the balance of the Red Sox wins and losses... it always a lot nicer around here when they're winning or it's the off season and someone on the yankees gets accused of steroid use

And another thing, I cannot fathom what it feels like to be a yankees fan, I just can't imagine what that honestly feels like (thomas)

There ARE still Yankees fans?

I'm pretty much sport-illiterate, and even I know that the Yankees are pretty much universally hated.

OK, the ex yesterday, whose call spawned this thread? One of the things
he so urgently needed to learn from me is whether his beloved Yankees
would be playing at home on the upcoming weekend I'm gonna be in NYC.
Like I would know. Or care.

The last thing I needed today was to find out I've lost/misplaced/had my cards stolen, possibly at the nightclub I went to on Wednesday. ATM card, ID, phone credit swipe card.
