I'm going to see Camper Van Beethoven tonight, but they're opening up for Modest Mouse. I like Modest Mouse, preferably their earlier stuff, but I just wish that I didn't have to see Camper in a supporting slot. Am I just holding Camper in too high of regards? I should be seeing Pixies/Violent Femmes this weekend, too, and I'm sure people could say similar things about the Femmes opening up for the Pixies, though I'd rather hear more Pixies than Femmes. Does anybody else agree? Should Modest Mouse be opening up for Camper?

Regardless, Pixies and Femmes would make an amazing show. Especially at the Red Rocks ampitheatre.

I guess it's just because Modest Mouse is more popular with the general public nowadays, and hence likely to draw bigger crowds. I love Camper, and agree that, in a perfect world, they'd be headlining. I've seen them twice, though, and neither time did they fill the moderately-sized venue where they played.

I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied.

So I just got back from the concert. Camper rocked so much more. M.M.'s singer got lost somehow and it took over an hour after Camper finished before M.M. took the stage, then another ten minutes or so of vamping the first song before the singer found his way to the stage. With as late as they were getting started, Camper could have played another half hour to forty minutes EASY. It's a shame. They didn't get to really show off. Only my friend and I had seen them before out of the dozens of my friends who went, and they all loved it more than life itself. I told them they have to see Camper headline sometime. Oh well. Modest Mouse was okay.
