Does anyone else think Gimme Fiction is total shit or is it just me? It is such a lazy follow up to Kill the Moonlight and Girls Can Tell. The songs are boring, they all sound the same, i can't even get past track 5. I'm so glad it was illegally downloaded and given to me so that i didn't have to waste $15 on this totally horrible compact disc. Fuck Britt Daniel. Fuck him for putting on one of the best shows i've ever seen and then following that up with a horrible, horrible record.

Dude... I just... wow. It's not my favourite Spoon LP, but come on, this is still a fun record. There's no denying Sister Jack. And Monsieur Valentine is great as well. I can see not digging the more funk/soul/Prince inspired numbers, but there are still a few great tracks not in this vein.

see, i LIKE the element of the funk/R&B stuff, but i also like good vocals - and Britt has apparently forgotten what they sound like. maybe i just need to digest it more, but this is my 5th or 6th attempt to listen to it and can't even get past the 5th track on any of them. the sound is just so grating on my nerves. i'm going to try on my walk home to listen to tracks 5-11 and see if they suck any less. i really hope they do...

Is it the falsetto in "I Turn My Camera On" that bothers you? Because I think he's in top form on the rest of the record (I like the vocals on Camera too though).

or "More like, Kill the Melody"
or "A Series of Poorly Constructed Songs"

i saw Spoon open for GBV a long time ago. i thought they were great so i got the album, which wasn't as good as it was live. to me.
would it be a fair argument to say they're a better band live than they are recorded? |

| Don't be they're a tough one to get into - you either love them or hate them. Their first album, Horse of The Dog, is their best and heaviest work (though I've recently been told I appear to have trouble distinguishing between heavy and light). |
