Stormy Weather, Allison, Velouria from Bossanova... I think they remember how to play Blown Away and Is She Weird from the last tour...
Alec Eiffel, Planet Of Sound, The Sad Punk, Subbacultcha from Trompe Le Monde... And I also think they remember too how to play U-MASS and Head On...
I'm enjoying it and I can't wait too hear theses songs live! How they do for the keyboards parts? |

Allison... If I hear this song live I swear I'm gonna die.
So what are this tour's new songs? Alec Eiffel, Stormy Weather, The Sad Punk, Dancing The Manta Ray, Allison, I'm Amazed. Have any of these songs been played last year?

Nope, the songs you mentioned weren't played last year... Not even Alec Eiffel in Paris! |

OK, so by my count that's six songs that haven't been played since '92, at least. (Alec Eiffel, Stormy Weather, Sad Punk, Dancing the Manta Ray, I'm Amazed, Allison). Best thing to happen to Portland since paved roads.
Of course, paved roads are so LAST YEAR, right Lomsuk.
I cant wait for Monday! |

Great sets, absolutely.
Just for curiosity: I count two B-sides and four Bossa/Trompe-songs for the early show, and three B-sides and six Bossa/Trompe-songs for the late show. If they wanted to advertise one of the shows as a B-side/rarities show, it's rather the late one, no? |

what a liar. if the setlists are correct, then they played it in the first show, so it's just 5 hours !

damnit! that's great the whole B-sides/Hits-show thing is not happening or maybe they are warming up anyway I think the sets are a lot more representative for the pixies career

nice that they're playing some new songs and sounds like they were really good shows.
but a bit disappointed at the set lists. i was really thinking there would be more variety for the portland shows. i was really hoping that eric drew feldman would make an appearance and play some more songs off of trompe! or at least more b sides/rarities or a couple of fb tunes to mix it up :)
i'm thinking that the type of guy frank is he would probably want to mix it up more but it is a BAND. and it seems like he's making a concsious effort to be more laid back and accomodating.
but still great to hear that people are realy enjoying the shows and hopefully i'll get a chance to see them one more time this year.

i wonder....
Kim seemed a little uncertain about her part, especially during Alec Eiffel. She was reading sheet music during much of the first few songs. I wonder if there were more B-sides that were going to be played, but they ditched the idea at the last minute (it seems they started the set out in that direction)?
I wonder if the B-sides who tonight will be more varied and dynamic. |

I think they didn't play all the "B-Sides" the other nights, they got a few surprises for the upcoming shows, there will be a turnaround I guess. Am I wrong? (they did it last year, so why not?). |

they did exactly what frank said they would do in the king holds court thread over a month ago.
"the upcoming pixies tour: are the gigs with 2 shows in one night going to include b-sides/rarities?
yeah. some b-sides. haven't decided on meaning of rarites."
SOME b-sides. i was rather suprised when one of the mods over at pixiesmusic insisted the other day that he had some special inside info from frank saying the first gig would be all bsides/rarities. guess not, huh?
if kim's inability to play her part is what's keeping the setlist so stagnant, well, i'd be very disappointed (but not suprised).

This is true. Glad I didn't pay $40 to see the wrong show, ha. |

If they're playing both Alec Eiffel AND Monkey Gone to Heaven at both the early and the late shows, what's the point of having two shows? Why not just one really good one? |

yeah, i really don't understand the "b sides" thing.. if this is how the set lists are going to be looking for the dual-show nights, i don't know why they bothered with the b sides angle. it's misleading |
