where did we get that reputation? and where is the dividing line between promicuous and repressed? or is it not an issue of how many but of expression? and I don't mean verbal.
Can you be sexually open having had one partner? does having no partners mean you are repressed or does it mean you take it more seriously, does true love wait? does having lots of partners automatically equate to looseness and commitment issues or is it related to bad luck or loneliness (possibly drunkness).
Is it quantity or quality that counts here?
are we looking for someone to love?
or someone to stay in love with?

Hehe no K, not disqualified, I was just thinking about this rep we have and wondering what counts as repressed anyway. Some of the people I knew thought I was pretty repressed, I thought (and told them) that they should go fuck themselves. It seems people have different ideas as to what is what, and can be pretty judgmental according to their own standards. I was interested in the universal thought about this.

Different things work for different people. I don't believe monogamy is for everyone, but I think it's dangerous to not be honest with yourself - you need to understand why you do behave or believe in certain things. I don't really care what other people think - at the end of the day I'm the one who has to sleep with myself and my thoughts at night, though at the same time I don't usually share my opinions on monogamy and sex with anyone who doesn't know me that well (in every day life that, the mask of the internet is a wonderous thing).
I think confidence in your sexual descisions is a powerful and liberating thing whether that be to remain celibate, commit to one partner only or to whatever.

| sometimes having lots of partners just means that people are desperate for attention, despite claiming that they only want a one nights stand etc, i guess i just cant imagine having sex with someone i didnt care about...i think people in britain are getting less repressed in just going out and 'pulling' etc, but girls who do are still often looked down on. |

I don't see what's wrong with getting love from one place and sexual fulfillment from another. It's like shopping from a couple of independent stores instead of a large supermarket.
Plus you then run a greater chance of being happy with what you get.

there is no love without sex. and i really think that being sexually open has nothing to do with the number of partners one has had. sexuality is all in your head. one can have a different partner each night and have worse sex than a monogamous couple. actually i enjoy sex with steady partners because there is more time to explore. one night stands are more like going to the bathroom for me. a mere physical need.

Back on topic for a sec, I have had a long-term

granted, she was a pretty serious Christian, and unmarried. but nonetheless. even Christians need a little of the old in-out sometimes.. if not more so

Depends partially on how quickly you move from one partner to another, I should think.
Personally, I don't have any moral issues with promiscuity, but I think it can often lead to complications. I'd leave it to the professionals.

i have a dear friend who was seriously contemplating suicide because he was a 26 year old virgin. he felt he had failed because he's expected to have fucked lotsa women and hadn't.
