Oh Christ!
I just listenned to the Soft Cell Album 'The Art of Falling Apart' (1983) and there is this song 'Loving You, Hating me' (the title is so cliché) that is merely the ultimate 80's song. The worst song ever is you hate the 80's and the Masterpiece of all if you love them.
Have an ear, listen to the words... Delightfully chrome perverted...

I am about to sell my soul, break the rules and surrender to the New World Order.

I think an ultimate 80's song is a song that sounds 80's because it cannot help it. A bit like the early Cure records like Pornography, or even pre-80's band like Joy Division. A song like "Isolation" is more 80's than most productions of the 80's. It is therefore much enjoyable.
And 80's music purpose and motto was to be 'enjoyable'.

End of transmition.
