Seems like The man from Brooklyn called Reid Paley will be even more involved in music from frank black in the future.

They have collaborated on another 6 songs that frank already recorded in Nashville for the next one

Reid Paley should also have a new album out somewhat in the near future. Keep your eyes and ears open

From our news page, dated Oct 8 2004:

quote:
The honey's not even dry on Honeycomb, Frank Black's first solo outing since the Cult of Ray, and already there is talk of another disc with 12 original songs to be recorded. The idea is that this would be a second disc for Honeycomb and would feature yet more seasoned musicians.

Jon Tiven, producer of Honeycomb, hints that it may even include, "Members of The Small Faces, The MGs, The Band, Free, Cheap Trick, The Funk Bros. And some guys who played behind Van Morrison, Lucinda Williams, Al Green, Wynonna, ...". AND, he says, "And the return of Lyle [Workman]."

I remember Jon talking about Reid Paley being involved though it didn't make the news apparently. In either case, thanks for the heads-up.

The Catholics could so easily support Frank on
a Honeycomb tour. They've got the skills, the
famililarity, the ballsy attitude.

I still believe in the excellent joy of the Catholics

You probably mean the skillz, K?
I have to confess Another Velvet Nightmare is probably the song I like least in Honeycomb. But I like what I've heard of Reid Paley and I like Frank's cover of Take What You Want, so I'm OK with this news of a collaboration.

i'd love to see Honeycomb played as it was recorded. Frank surrounded by his Nashville buddies playing this kind of music that deserves nothing but silence and attention. I'd be in awe.

I don't think it would have the same feel and aura if it was just the Catholics up there with their acoustics. Personally, i'd rather watch the session players from Nashville who have that extra special something when performing. They make it look and sound so effortless and are by far the more superior musicians if only because of their age and wisdom.

The difference between these two potential gigs is massive.
The catholics could play HC, true, but it's not a Catholics record for one reason (i presume here, k), FB wanted a different sound, style and feel on it.
That's why it sounds so sweet today, even though it's not the finished record.

And i'm known to be wrong on these things, too!

Ain't no such thing as "just the Catholics." Besides, don't
you mean "with their acousticz?"
