Did I miss something? After someone told me I had a crush on her I decided to go check out her profile to see who she was - but I couldn't find it. Is she the n/a person, if not; who the hell is the n/a person? Why do they get a special n/a account?
Also, whatever happened to peter radiator?
Also, the moderators REALLY REALLY don't like talking about The Swimmer, but I really wanna know what happened with that crazy feller'. Last thread I created about it - was locked immediately. You don't have to openly admit what happened here, but if anyone would mind possibly e-mailing me and sharing this closely guarded information - I'm a active member, I have the RIGHT to know.
Also, "brick is red" sounds like a familiar user name. I did find one "brick is red" but he only had seven posts, which doesn't sound right at all - the brick is red I remember had A LOT of posts, maybe I'm just making this up in my head?
And, why the hell is this forum so popular for having member sign-up but never post or only post like 10 times at the most? Do we really have that kind of effect on people?
That is all. |

Seriously, is starmekitten tre? Because the qoute "I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out" sounds really farmiliar. Almost as if it - was someone's signature.
And are you seriously also n/a? Also, please clear up the swimmer issue for me someone. Tre/Starmekitten/na if you're on MSN I'll add you right now to discuss this. BEFORE THE MODERATORS FIND OUT!!! |

Ok yeah, it all makes sense now. I found "n/a"'s profile and the name says Tre. Could you please mind explaining a bit about the entier n/a thing to me and why your old account was deleted?
Actually - the final question kind of answered itself;
Q. "And, why the hell is this forum so popular for having member sign-up but never post or only post like 10 times at the most? Do we really have that kind of effect on people?"
A. BECAUSE THIS FORUM IS A OVERLY-CONFUSING PLACE!
P.S. Well we're on the entier thing, what the hell was "The Henhouse" thread, and how did it come about? What took place there? I would find the thread and look through the 60 pages but I don't feel like it, because I tried it before, and I couldn't make sense of the parts that I read. It seemed to bounce around in topic, from some mundane thread to a "+18 ONLY" thread. |

The account name was tre, I for various reasons' didn't want my name showing up on every post so the mods deleted it and starmekitten was born.
I didn't know the profile still showed up though, interesting....
well, not really.

That really didn't help at all, but obviously for some sort of personal reason that you will not disclose you don't want your account name as "tre" - so I won't proceed to ask why.
I still have many unanswered questions though. |

Oh yeah, about the account thing, I was wondering if I was the only one who had seen it - but no, apparently you can see it too. I don't know why it is - I've been around on this forum for a long time now, this is like my third account - so, I don't know what's up with the double account thing.
Don't tell the moderators though, let it be our little secret. It IS a forum anomaly after all - and I don't think anyone would want to destroy that. |

Very much so, I had to urban dictionary the phrase "one off" and now that I think I know what you're talking about - I find your statment clever.
It's strange though - because I too, do not understand how it happened. Does that mean instead of 228 posts, I've actually accumulated 456? |

Elephant, I will tell you the ancient legend of the swimmer, passed down from my great-grandfather's people to my father's and finally to me. It is a tale awash in the cloudy fog of time, and one which most present here today don't -- or don't want -- to remember. Now sit back, pop open a cold one, and let the ghosts of the past speak to you.
I wasn't here for the beginning of the individual who would ultimately become the swimmer. He started out like any other common flamer -- he'd get into the occasional spat with someone here and there, but nothing too serious.
The first big melee (after the relatively minor bouts with J. Mascis and MIRV)came when the swimmer had had enough of El Barto being El Barto, and decided to do something about it through the internet. His solution, logically enough, was to mock and make fun of El Barto until El Barto decided to quit being like himself. The forum erupted into pandemonium, with all the mainstayers holing up in the Henhouse for shelter. Some of the rowdier members, myself included, all happened to have the same idea at the exact same time, and started threads with names like "the Cuss Pit" and "the Swimmer vs. El Barto thread" in a misguided attempt to confine the ugliness to one or two threads instead of continuing with having them hijack legitamate threads. Dave didn't like that too much, and these threads began to get locked as fast as we could open them up. Meanwhile, ProverbialCereal was using his photo-editing skills to visually narrate the battle, depicting things like El Barto (or Jim) in a Teletubby outfit riding a scooter through a sunshiney, flowery field.
Finally, the swimmer was banned for a week or so, and acted chagrined that he had acted in such a childish manner. When he came back, he was more-or-less well-behaved for a week or two, but like Tigger when he had lost his bounce, he just wasn't the same old swimmer unless he was cussing people. Eventually he was banned permenantly.
We had all gotten used to life returning to normal, and welcomed in newcomers like GypsyDeath and apl4eris, when into our lives stumbled a rougish -- if sometimes spiteful -- middle-aged girl named GoddessTheory. GoddessTheory was definitely opinionated, speaking her mind even at the insult of others in dissent, but generally behaved herself. Finally, one day, on her 666th post, she surprised us all by announcing that she herself was the swimmer, and we were all fools to have been "duped" and "tricked." There were several suicide attempts, and Dave Noisy got a grey streak in his hair from news of the deception. Finally, after intense therapy, we all calmed down and got our lives back together, although definitely much more cautious and jaded than before. The forum had lost its innocence.

After the GoddessTheory debacle, it was revealed that the swimmer had a legion of accounts with which to accost the forum, and finally Dave Noisy washed his hands of the whole affair, banishing him to the newly-opened Pixies Music forum. While there, the swimmer spent his days brooding over his banishment, and plotting ways in which to get even. He and another of the fallen, a young man named McMikey, collaborated on ways to get back at Dave and the forum in general. He began writing hateful e-mails to Dave, fulfilling the awesome purpose that was his life.
Our tale ends with the realization that the forum may never live down the tarnishing the swimmer inflicted upon it, and we can only hope that one day, our wounds may heal.
Now let us never speak of the swimmer again.
The End.

I'm so happy you cleared this up glacial. I've been interested in this for a while - since I was around when The Swimmer was taking part in the forum. But I was absent from this site a while, and I lost track of the members and their activities.
Also - Thomas thank you for the link to the thread. |

Thank you. That was entertaining. I had just strained my brain an hour ago analyzing the ups and downs of Kant's Categorical Imperative; reading that thread was a nice break.
Elephant, peter radiator did come back from a previous hiatus, thus I would assume he will come back from this one. We definitely all miss him. He was smart. Smart people tend to have lives; perhaps that's why he's not on the forum.
As for the henhouse, I don't know. Ask ramona. |

It's pretty funny really. I never found the swimmer that obnoxious, but obviously I read the wrong threads. What struck me was that the conversation almost entirely consisted of members that don't post any more. And it only descended into inanity once floop started posting. Go figure...

haha thats hilarious! I remember when I was an undergrad we had a chemistry student go nutso and called in all these bomb threats, the main arts building was evacuated three times, the science library twice when I was in there, the main high street got closed one day. Eventually he did actually start planting little home made boom-booms about the place as well but got caught before he could do any damage.
Then there was the time all these posters went up about a series of sexual assaults happening in Bangor and everyone got really spooked, turned out this guy was a serial arse pincher haha, he got locked up.
Then there was the vampire kid, oh and the sociiology guy with a thing for old women who couldn't deal with his strange desires so set fire to himself and leapt of Brittania bridge straight onto the concrete, how he missed the big wide menai straits I'll never know.
Who said wales was boring eh?
