Finally, one of the many bizarre happenings in Kalamazoo makes national news! I don't know the guy who did this, but I've seen him around town. Hell, I saw him at a party last night.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Commentator and former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan cut short an appearance after an opponent of his conservative views doused him with salad dressing.
advertisement “Stop the bigotry!” the demonstrator shouted as he hurled the liquid Thursday night during the program at Western Michigan University. The incident came just two days after another noted conservative, William Kristol, was struck by a pie during an appearance at a college in Indiana.
After he was hit, Buchanan cut short his question-and-answer session with the audience, saying, “Thank you all for coming, but I’m going to have to get my hair washed.”
The demonstrator, identified by authorities as a 24-year-old student at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, was arrested and faces a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace. He was released on a $100 cash bond, pending his April 14 arraignment.
“He could have faced a felony assault charge, but Pat Buchanan decided to not press that charge,” university spokesman Matt Kurz said.
Buchanan’s visit had evoked controversy on campus because it fell on the birthday of the late Mexican-American labor leader Cesar Chavez. Buchanan favors tighter controls on immigration.

Is that guy still around?
I was all out of luck, like a duck that died. I was all out of juice, like a moose denied. |

A few nights ago, I talked with the guy who drenched Buchanan in dressing. I said to him something about him now being a celebrity and he said, "Celebrity is a bad word. Activist. I'm an activist."

you have to admit it was cool of him not to press felony charges (not that i'm a Buchanan fan) |

old people are your worst eneny at a salad bar/buffet. they take forever to make a decision. i don't mean to sound insensitive towards the elderly.. but at a buffet, you gotta move fast. time is of the essence. |

But aren't they gathered around the pudding and jello?
And frankly the key to a successful buffet visit is a carbonated drink. It helps to clear the decks for another pass through the line.

i have my whole (vegas) buffet methodology down. some tips:
1. avoid the elderly and/or parents with children; they'll slow you up 2. stay away from the carbs (bread, pasta etc..). it's just going to fill you up too fast, and that's what they want. don't be what they want 3. it's alll about the meat. yes, the meat. especially pork 4. while having sushi at a buffet might be novel, don't mix sushi with other buffet standards. there's no way it will be good sushi anyway, and it will throw your whole experience off (tempura is okay though) 5. crab legs are overrated. don't waste your time waiting behind japanese tourists. head over to the meat section.. 6. yes, you have to have dessert. it's a rule 7. if you don't feel sick for the rest of the day, you haven't done your job as a buffet patron |

The biggest key to the Vegas buffet experience is that you've got to spend a little money. No matter how skilled you are eating at The Pink Pony is never going to be a winning experience.
I've also found that if you want to impress the waiters (and who doesn't) you need to eat a heaping plate of cottage cheese. When they shake their heads and mutter something about malo and loco, you know you've won their admiration.

i couldn't agree more darwin. Bellagio is basically the best buffet in Vegas. don't let people tell you Rio is. it's not. but yeah, Bellagio is not cheap, but it's worth it..
sure you can get an all you can eat buffet for like 4.99 somewhere, but it's going to be ass.
Bellagio baby.. (and MGM is pretty good too).
going next weekend for a bachelor party in fact

Last time in Vegas my buddy won a bunch of money at a blackjack table and then promptly gave all right back. We got a comped MGM bunch for his pain.

and designed by a dem, which explains, I suppose why it would be confusing.
Seriously, the ballot was confusing only for somebody who had no business voting in the first place. If you're too stupid or old or incapacitated to understand the ballot, you shouldn't be voting. |

What is sad is that this is the fourth time in the last six months some infantile "activist" has done this sort of thing to a conservative speaker. Just keep on chugging with MoveOn and Moore and you guys will never win another national election. |

Yes, because the people throwing the salad dressing are the same ones who are running for office.
Actually, maybe they SHOULD. It would certainly make the debates a lot more interesting.

heh. i'm actually trying to save money these days, which Vegas is counter-productive for. but, gotta do what you gotta do..
i'm only going on Saturday as opposed to Friday and Saturday, surprising even myself with unprecedented restraint and maturity. |
