"We had an old-fashioned braai. It was a panoply of meats. Entire cows on the rack. Tight squiggles of boerwors sausage squeezed into grilles. Chicken. Lamb chops. Ribs. Roasted squash. Salads. Fred stood above it all, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, and said the secret was the sauce. The vegetarians shifted uncomfortably."

Um...isn't that really obvious? I never would even thought of the latter, but that's just me.

Yeah, it seemed quite obvious to me that Brian was into scat porn.

I love quotes so here's my fave quote (or two) I just found....

People go back to the stuff that doesn't cost a lot of money and the stuff that you don't have to hand money to over and over again. Stuff that you get for free, stuff that your older brother gives you, stuff that you can get out of the local library.
Frank Black

You should never rely on interviews with musicians as being factual. Most of them are mangled and even have made up stuff in them, that is to say, made up stuff by the writer or editor.

“I believe that life was never really meant to be a struggle - yet somehow we are taught that life is one of effort, hard work, anguish and difficulty, and battling on regardless. And yet, when we look at nature and what is around us, we can see a simplicity and a flow. Does the tiger get up in the morning and say “I´m going to try hard today; I´m going to jog round the block and stick alfalfa sprouts up my nose and lob my vitamins and I´m gonna really struggle like crazy and hopefully by lunchtimne have something to eat?” No it doesn´t. It just gets up, has a little sniff under its tiger armpits and wanders out into the forest and there at lunchtime on the path it its lunch. And it´s the same for you. If you get into flow and you pull away from the emotion of struggling, sure, you may have to drive across town to pick up a check and take it to your bank, but it doesnt have to be anguish - it doesn´t have to be laced with emotion. Effort is part of the physical condition. Struggle is effort laced with emotion. And you don´t need that.”

"It is the final proof of God's omnipotence that he need not exist in order to save us."

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself,I am large, I contain multitudes."

"To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be unhappy, one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness. I hope you're getting this down."
