Just realised my years membership must have ended now, because i only paid $5 - a years worth of membership, and i'm pretty sure i joined december 03/january 04.
the page on the site says members would be sent a reminder when their membership ended, i'm wondering if it was just me that didn't get this reminder because I signed up with an old email.
but the main problem, as far as i am aware, is that the club doesn't really operate any more, does it? for the sake of newcomers who may see that page and sign up and then recieve nothing in return i think it should be taken down. the only other option is to provide some of the things that were promised but i gather it's too much trouble. i don't regret giving $5, because it at least helped the site run, but i do feel a bit conned. as a result, i'm not sure whether it's worth it to join again.

You definately shouldn't feel conned... why you are keeping the site going. That's huge.
Look if you come here on the site every day... that's like 0.01369863 cents a day! Or for you 0.003227889 cents a post! Anyone here can handle that!
Why don't you become a lifetime member and then you won't have to worry about when it is expires. That's what I did.

If you do feel bad, I put it $50 and a hell of a lot of time.
I agree that the Friends Club should do what it says it does, but Dave will catch up (ask him - I've been nagging him to do this for months).
The purpose of the membership was never to really have special benefits, Steve. We didn't want to create a pay for service system or some two-tiered system. People are *supposed to* donate out of the goodness of their hearts of their feeling that it's worth it or they'd like to contribute. The forum costs us quite a bit /year to run and without Friends' Club, it would've died in February. Yeah, that's right, no more FB.Net. Further, we certainly wouldn't be able to look at paying for FTP hosting, but we have been and I'm actually pretty close to having a new site up provided I can get tech support for the hosting company to do what I want.
At any rate, whether you believe me or not, I've been asking Dave to do exactly what you said (either catch up or take off the 'prizes' part) for a while and will continue to hound him until it gets done. We are unpaid volunteers, for the record.

Speaking of the Friend's Club, I always felt guilty for not contributing. My personal scapegoat was that I neither had a paypal account, or a credit card. But I shall make amends! When I see Brian in June, I'll give him some dough, as my contribution.

Wow, I can't believe that if it wasn't for the financial help of members that the site would have gone down in Feb. Wow... keep us posted Dean if you guys need more help.... |

The good news is that, with a few more dollars, we have enough in the account to pay for the server next year and this FTP site provided we're able to get it to work the way we need it to with this company. So no fear of that, you've all been very generous and thank you for that.

my membership must have ended too and i got no notice but i'll gladly send another 5-10$ if there is need for them with or without the prizes. i appreciate the people who run this place for their non profit attitude and i don't see why they should pay for all of it. keep up the good work.

What mun said. I'll give Brian some $ when I see him. And no need for prizes or anything. You guys do so much, the least I can do is fork over a few bucks.
