No, this is not a thread dedicated to Bruce Springsteen.
Have you ever danced alone, in the dark or in front of your mirror?
Playing the air guitar, or half naked, pretending you're Iggy Pop.
You can make some moves that people would find ridiculous. It is very primitive in a way, unleashing all the pressure you keep inside.
It is also very poetic, dancing with yourself (this is not a thread about Billy Idol either).

Come on, admit it, I am sure most of you have already danced in the dark. Some of you might even be regular dancers - perhaps you've got some tips to share.
I will show you fear in a handful of dust |

Given the opportunity, I'd extend an invitation to the population of the planet to join me in gyrations of the body typically observed to be a thinly veiled demonstration of one's sexual prowess.
I would, of course embark upon the aforementioned gyrations very much alone.
Oh, oh. Oh oh.
So, needless to say, if you were waiting around with five bucks in your hand waiting to buy my upcoming brochure Understanding Poop, you can put that five bucks away, 'cause it ain't happenin.

When I dance at home, it's so much better than when I'm out, I'm not sure why this is.
I'm like a lost snail in the night. |

Do the Safety Dance!

Sorry. Um...I find that now that I have a small child and I don't get to go out much, I sneak off to a dark corner of the house, where I won't be detected, and steal a couple of minutes swaying to the music. Of course, my kid hears the music and comes and finds me anyway. But those few moments alone are good. Usually, I'll put on SMYT or Streetlife.
I still believe in the excellent joy of the Catholics |

For some lame reason I'm thinking of that even lamer 80s song, Dancing in the Sheets.
And then that made me think of Dancing in the Street.

This is an invitation, across the nation, a chance for folks to meet. Summer's here and the time is right, for Dancing in the Streets.
Carolynanna, looks what you've made me do. Unless you were thinking of a different Dancing in the Streets song.
I dance without thinking about it when I listen to music on public transport. I make an ass of myself even more when I decide to sing.
Are you honest when no one's looking? Can you summon honey from a telephone? They sat there with their hooks in the water and their mustaches caked with airplane glue. |

I absolutely admit dancing by myself, in the dark, with and without clothes on and sometimes with a air-guitar tightly in between my fingertips...since I can remember. I think it started when I randomly jumped on stage when I was three in the middle of a church potluck and started singing and dancing a beatles tune I knew (or so says my mother....you know how they can stretch one's childhood truths). Strangely enough...I did end up getting a dance minor and have taught dance on and off for years.
Dancing is awesome everyone should feel confident enough to do it. |

I used to listen to TMBG and try to imitate the moves in their videos, like the infamous Ana Ng Dance. I can't even imagine how bad I was. And it's not like those are particularly complicated dances.
