I know some people like to keep up with the use of the Pixies' music on TV, so... I saw an ad tonight where Wanadoo Broadband are using the opening bars of Velouria for some reason or other. Not sure what the connection is meant to be...
Oddly enough, I also noticed today that Coors are using the obscure Jesus and Mary Chain B-side 'Heat' to sell their stuff too.

EroticVulture just posted about seeing this. I am not sure how I feel about Frank's music being used in ads.
I still believe in the excellent joy of the Catholics |

just saw this too. don't know if there's suppose to be a connection. just a generation of graphic and media studies students gratuating and bringing their own tastes to a brief. like Letter to Memphis at the start of Football Focus on Grandstand a few years back. it's slowly changing. the right generation falling into power, hoping the dinosaurs will soon die out so we can take over. bring on the next gen of politicians too. |

Kurt Cobain used to talk about the right generation being in power and the the dinosaurs dying. That was 10 years ago. We're still waiting... |

yeah, it's a slow process. but it's started. killing off old fashioned views that today hold no relevance to the youth. Kurt was right. |

Dunno if anyone else spotted it but Something Against You was used on an FA Cup advert a coupla weeks ago too. I remember when the Pixies were just my little secret its wierd how theyre so cool nowadays. The type of people that trawled through the tshirt section of Virgin Megastores for a Green Day tshirt last week are searching for a Pixies tshirt this week.
I wish they werent cool anymore.. |

yes..i noticed that ad yesterday..i was going to start a post today :P you beat me it seems...
i wass shocked when i saw it. im not sure if im happy about it or not. but if it keeps up like this theyre gona be portrayed as some kinda commercialist joke..and then a newer generatio will have no credability for them...either that or they are gona start playing live gigs in clothes shops but that seems even more unlikely..hee hee (joke) |

I saw it this morning and I was pretty chuffed. If it gets them one new fan then it has been worth it. I don't mind bands getting money for their songs being used in adverts, so long as it's not for a product that is produced by a company that are involved in shady practices such as Nike.
I think the punk attitude is largely just music snobbery, and I don't really care for it.
Hansel and Gretel have formed a band, .....And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Breadcrumbs!!!

Joe Strummer had the right punk attitude. Everybody else is just a punk poser.
Frank, I am thrilled to see get the recognition he so deserves. Still I had yet to see an ad featuring any of his music and I believe that I will be a bit freaked when i do see one.

Velouria seems to be the most used song in adverts and stuff. I remember watching this wierd short drama at about 4 in the morning about this guy who shrank and took a holiday in his bedroom, it had veluria playing in that too. |

The dinosaurs died ten years ago? Is this some kind of Young Earth Creationist theory?

I think the Pixies used to ride to their concerts on a triceratops. Unfortunately, they weren't able to bring back this tradition for the reunion tour.

What you don't know is that Michael Crichton has the ability to predict the future.
