By George, he's got it(wrong, AGAIN)!
(sigh)It's like a bad joke, a stupid movie plot(like Farenheit 911,hehe!!). He's the leader of the 'FREE WORLD', he has all these options available to him. So what does he do? The rich arms merchants get richer, the world gets to be a more dangerous place to live in. I'm not being naive, of course I realise it's the administration at fault, Bush could probably just be a puppet. As long as everything is running smoothly and the world is being held to ransom by the rich and powerful, then everythings ALL RIGHT! *THE END* (sleep tight!) |

You don't have to be Nostradamus to see that those planes will someday be used against American soldiers.

It's getting to the point where I can't pick up any damn newspaper and get the feeling I'm reading the Onion instead. And in order to calm India down, let's give them some planes as well! But Bush is all about the 'culture of life' .. just ask Jeb and the fundies in Florida. |

Yet everywhere I look I see "I support President Bush" stickers and other pro-Bush paraphernalia. Millions of Americans adore this man and his administration.

This is because 90% of the american populace are television-addicted, zombie-like meatsacks.
So, needless to say, if you were waiting around with five bucks in your hand waiting to buy my upcoming brochure Understanding Poop, you can put that five bucks away, 'cause it ain't happenin.

I like to think, given the results of the last election, that that number is closer to 75 percent. (The 50 percent who never bothered to vote and the 25 percent who voted for the status quo.) Either way you do the math, it's pretty depressing.

Doesn't matter, becuase the Republican party crushed their opponents to a bloody pulp. Of course, the Dems are so afraid they will be precieved as being weak on the 'war on terror' that they haven't been quick to speak out against Bush. Some little a$$hole with a 'Jeb for president' bumbersticker cut me off the other day while I was taking my grandmother for a check-up. 'Culture of life' my a$$ ... |

It seems as though virtually everyone on the forum hates Bush. I'm glad we can share a common interest. Besides Frank, of course. |

There's a right-wing faction here for sure, but it's definitely a left-leaning populace. Thankfully, they don't pop up to debate everytime someone says something anti-right because otherwise this forum would dissolve into bickering forever. Disagree with them or not, I respect their restraint. Usually. :)

Yeah, the cult of Bush lovers is incredibly disturbing. That's not just because I disagree with pretty much all of his policies (which I do), but because, even if I AGREED with them, I still doubt I'd like him as a person. I think there's a general tendency toward hero worship and blind following among the far right, though. Not that there isn't some of that on the left as well, but I think it's less common, since the notion of liberalism generally involves more thought over individual issues. I mean, just look at how much of the American Right is made up of religious fundamentalists.

A "cult" is usually a small, underground type thing, right?

I'll make it known that I don't hate George Bush. I believe that he does have good long-term intentions; unfortunately, the means he employs to achieve them are nothing short of stupid, inhumane, and illogical; and I disagree with nearly every one of his policies. But do I hate him? No. I'll say what Aldous Huxley once said of Timothy Leary (paraphrasing): I love the man, but why does he have to such an ass?

I believe, contrary to what most people on this forum believe, that he actually desires peace and an end to terrorism. BUT, that being said, I do not in any way, shape, or form condone the means he uses to achieve this end, and I belive they absolutely will not achieve this end, but only lead to further war, violence, and destruction (which was the point of this thread). Maybe I'm just naaive or overly optomistic, but, no matter how much I disagree with his policies, I can't honestly believe he's part of some massive right-wing conspiracy to take over the world.

I don't think he and his right-wing buddies want to "take over the world" in the Pinky and the Brain sense, but I think they're willing to go to great lengths to get other people and cultures to agree with their values. Those who don't are subject to forcible conversion or death. Really not all that uncommon a position, when you think about it, but a highly disturbing one nonetheless.

Matthew J Hogan has just been appointed by the Bush Government as director of the Fish and Wildlife Service. Interestingly, Hogan was the lobbyist for Safari Club International - an elite club of exotic animal trophy hunters, as well as a keen exotic hunter himself.
SCI has 40,000 members, and promotes global competitive trophy hunting, with Grand Slam and Inner Circle competitions. These include Africa Big Five (leopard, elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo), North American Twenty Nine (one of each species of bear, bison, sheep, moose, caribou, and deer), Big Cats of the World and Antlered Game of the Americas. To complete all 29 awards, a hunter must kill 322 separate species. Enough to populate a large zoo.
(FYI: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is the agency charged with granting or denying such trophy import permits.)
