I've bought two of Bob Mould's solo albums, Poison Years and The Last Dog and Pony Show, over the last week and both are fantastic. Probably both better than Sugar's F.U.E.L.

Alas, no more Husker Du as yet, but still looking.

It's funny, after listening to Low and Kristin Hersh's solo albums over the last few months, I'm kind of rocking out with Bob Mould and 50 Foot Wave at the moment. And it feels good.

Hello, I'm a Husker Du newbie and I was watching VH1's Greatest artists of hard rock and the first song they showed on the husker du segment sounded really cool. Does anyone know the name of this song? I can vaguely remember hearing,
'Up and and up and down,
Just kinda hangin' around
Just wanna be with you
Just wanna talk to you'

Sorry to say the exact lyrics don't ring a bell but remind me of
"Could You Be The One?" from the album "Warehouse: Songs and Stories" and "Too Far Down" from "Candy Apple Grey."

Shiner? Any ideas?

Yep, Husker Du was a great band. Books About UFO's, She Floated Away, Turn On The News, Standing In The Rain, Could You Be The One...some killer pop/punk tracks...along with The Pixies, The Replacements and Sonic Youth, they are probably at the pinnacle of eighties rock...

I like Bob's guitar solos on Zen Arcade. They remind of Slayer solos.

Slayer solos are wonderful! They're like Flight of the Bumblebee on speed and "slightly" less technical.

Despite your needing a spanking, here is a photo Grant Hart calls "Hell Freezes Over" on his website. Maybe I should post it in our Pictures of Beautiful Men thread.

Was that them jammin' in Minne last year? (Can't see the photo at work). If it is I gotta question about that pic. I thought Grant was the drummer, is that him on bass?

Yep he was the drummer but the two of them wrote the songs. (Greg Norton was the bassist.) Yep that's from that thing they did last fall.

btw, the photo is Grant Hart with a schmatte on his head and Bob Mould looking fucking HOT.

too far down has the "up and down" part 'cept it says "hot and cold and up and down" and it's funny cause warehouse song and stories came to mind right away but i'm not sure which song.

hehe, thanks k, it would have been more like bob in those days to write "don't wanna be with you, don't wanna talk to you" but i googled that and came up blank too, so, i don't know.

As a starting point for casual listeners, Can I recommend the easily accessible "hardly getting over it", a beautiful song.

Digging up this thread cause I bought Bob Mould's self-titled album this week-end. I have everything by Sugar and half of the HD records but this is my first solo album by Mould. I haven't listened to it yet.

I read this thread again and I'm surprised nobody mentioned Flip Yr Wig. I second the recommendation of New Day Rising but I love Flip Yr Wig too, better than Candy Apple Grey. I'm not the greatest expert on HD though, still haven't got Zen Arcade and Warehouse.

That's the song "Everytime", a b-side from Warehouse. A live version can be found on The Living End.

I pissed now about "Besides" - I never knew you could get it with a live disc.

Someone mentioned "Gift" before as an amazing song, it really is.
