Sorry if this has been brought up or anything already, or if Nadine has already been explained... But was watching Twin Peaks last night, the last one of series 1, and noticed the woman who takes her own life by overdosing is called Nadine, and they say the killer has a red car... It just made me think of how the song is about Nadine and it mentions a red car, and Frank being a fan of Lynch... Tenious, but made me think.

Myabe it's because it's too obvious, but wouldn't the lyrics include something about an eye patch? Although the patch was black... |

haha, well, that's my day of posting over, i think i'll return to my reclusiveness!

The "Nadine" in the song is portrayed as a sexy lady. The Nadine in Twin Peaks isn't really sexy.
I don't see a whole lot to analyze in "Nadine". ("Who could Nadine be?"... "Whoo!"... "Why is she wearing black?"). It's just a simple blues about watching a beautiful woman walk by and wanting to sleep with her. That's it. There's the deep hidden meaning in the song.
I think "Nadine" is one of the most simple sets of music and lyrics Frank's ever released. |

When I saw FB perform solo acoustic at Zuzu in Central Square in Cambridge he mentioned that the song Nadine takes place on Harvard Ave. in Allston. (This is all around Boston)
So, I gather that Nadine is about some chick he met or knew on Harvard Ave. Harvard Ave. used to be (may still be, haven't been over there in a while) kind of a hip street with a bunch of small bars and cool stores. There was a club called Bunratty's, Mr. Music guitar store ...
Quotes: "This is all taking place right around here, this song. - Frank Black, on stage in Cambridge, MA, May 29, 2003 about Nadine

Yep. That and Goodbye Lorraine. Man, to think if a song as formulaic and traditional and Goodbye Lorraine were on the weird and quirky TOTY, I'd think it were a joke.
Okay, I veered off from the original point of the topic. I don't know. I've never seen Twin Peaks. |
