Carolyn, you're a naughty, naughty girl!

Offerw, I am so so sorry that you have to go thru this
stress. Have you lived at your current place long?
Would you be opposed to moving somewhere safer?
I don't pretend to know the politics or neighborhoods
where you live, but I am sorry that you don't feel
safe in your own home. That must be very difficult,
especially when you deserve your rest after working
hard all day.

Offerw - it breaks my heart and sickens me to the pit of my stomach to hear that. I hope you're okay and stay safe.

I'm fine. Moving to some fancier neigbourhood won't help though. I'll just need higher electrical fencing and sturdier burglar gates. This kind of thing happens all over. In the nine years I've stayed here this was the first attempt at a break-in. The thugs will move on to another neigbourhood next month.

What pissed me off was the lecture a colleague gave me, why I should own a gun.

No fucking way!

Good for you - I grew up around guns on the farm, and while I'm comfortable around them I don't believe for one second believe in owning a handgun in a city for so called "protection".

I've lived in rough as hell and fancy neighbourboods in SA and you're quite right - makes absolutely no difference.

I couldn't quite believe it in Cape Town - all the 'nicer' neighbourhood's were crawling with security. Like 24-hour armed response, 8ft high thick walls with razor wire, massive alarm systems, even lockable screens for each room in the house.
I couldn't quite decide if it was paranoia or justified, but your tale reminds me that even paranoia has a basis in this case. Sorry to hear about it Wilhelm.

I was interested to watch the TV though - there was a Sunday night investigative report-type show that the guy I was staying with liked to watch - it was all, they can/will steal your car in x seconds, they lay rocks across isolated toll plazas and hijack your car, etc.
And still, I don't think it's wise to keep a gun in the house.

Did the store clerk touch floop's hand while returning
his change?

Am I a dork for not loving "I heart Huckabees"?

How could I not have eaten a peppermint ice cream
sundae tonight? It's been 24 hours without
peppermint ice cream. Not sure I can survive.

A quick call to Mr. Kathryn and I'm good as new.

I wonder if the mosquitoes bit Owen at that orgy.

I bet those pregnancy anti-bodies will protect Carolyn
from her family's illness.
