i'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Erebus, who has been an inspiration throughout the years, and probably the whole reason i wanted to grow a beard in the fist place. if it weren't for him i wouldn't be where i am today

You're welcome floop. Sad to say these days I have but a wisp. Got tired of scraping mayonnaise out of the old monster. Plus the only women in real life who told me they liked it were kinda gnarly. Your trucker beard looks good though.

thanks floop for keeping the beard love going. i've decided to finally contribute to this thread. i grew a beard for about 6 months last year while we lived in outback australia. mrs benji hated it with a passion, but i felt that since i was living in a feral place, i best try to fit in. and fit in i did. because feral it most certainly was. one thing that suprised me was how it didn't get hot...i was working in 40+ degree temps and my face never got hot - seemed to act more of an airconditioner than a heater....
anyways, i loved my beard, and i was sad to see it go...mrs benji made me shave it off before we headed back to new zealand.....
all i can say, thank god for polio! brian |

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

floop, I'm crying already for whatever reason you got. But, as a guy who hates shaving, and who has chopppped off that '05 beard, I'm surprised over and over at how fast the new beard reappears. The boss says "show up clean-shaven", whereas some of us want to do nothing, which is my inclination. Hence a beard.

there's nothing like not shaving every day. it's such a pain in the ass. seriousy, how long does shaving take? that time could be better spent doing other things |

Like sleeping, or spending more time reading in the toilet. It sucks so much to feel obliged to shave every morning. I love having a beard.

I've got a compromise: a goatee. So I don't have to shave my upper lip or my chin. Shaving takes about a minute each morning, and I never cut myself because it's just my cheeks and neck. It's worked pretty well for me for the last dozen years or so.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

That is indeed a mighty facial boosh, Benj! I just shaved off a resonable little growth yesterday. And I have the scars to prove it-thanks to my obsessive compulsive overfussiness!

I should note that, in Australia at least, Novemeber is affectionately known as "Movember" in that a "mo" is slang for moustache. People get donations and then grow out a moustache (van dykes allowed, but not full beard) starting from a clean shave on Nov 1. The idea is to raise awareness and/or money for prostate cancer.
I'm doing one. Any one else interested? Of course, you'd need to keep us all posted on your development...
