got his new single (i think it is anyway) 'what i'm looking for' - you can get it as a free download from his site (http://www.brendanbenson.com) - heck it's good. at first i thought average, not as good as his other stuff, but it's a grower. fantastic stuff. can't wait for the new album!
Yeah I thought it was average too at first (I saw it on MTV2 a few times), but now it has grown on me. I assume it's the same track. This one is definitely his new single.
Did you know that he and his best pal, Jack White, have written an album together. It's been described as a new 'Nevermind'. I don't think that means it's grunge though. They wanna release and tour it when they both get a chance, but first Benson wants to release and tour his new one, and then White will be too later in the year. Not sure when exactly they will get time then.
isn't jack white his uncle or something? i'm pretty sure they're related. anyway, i have "lapalco" and it's really good. looking forward to the new record and hoping a few more dates get added in the states.
here's the nevermind quote: “It’s a fucking brilliant record. It’s really, really good. A few people who have heard it are really raving about it. Maybe it’s even better than I thought. A guy the other day said that he had heard Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ four months before it came out and as he was listening to this record he said: ‘this feels just like that’. Benson added: “It’s a cross between Deep Purple and Cat Stevens. That’s a pretty good description. We’ve decided we need to kinda do this – it’s kinda tricky. We don’t want to put out something that’s going to eclipse another record. We’re thinking late this year or next year. I dunno how Jack figures The White Stripes into that. But we want to tour it as well.”
Brendan Benson's best song ever is actually a b-side. It's called 'Meaning to write' and features a beautiful harmonica part. It's like his 'Pan American Highway,' every time you hear it you can't believe it's left off the album.

this guy has a new single on the staysh (radio station) i listen to. it's pretty awesome. even though i own both raconteurs albums i never checked brendan out further. am i a moron?
