They're fucking awesome. I haven't heard much from them lately, but Napster finally added their album Mortal Mirror to the catalog [I've been meaning to buy their 2 full length LPs foreer]. It's so fucking fantastic. I saw them open up for Sonic Youth back in '99 and I dared utter the words "I think I liked them more than SY." Any other fans? If not, love them. Cause they are amazing.
I'm drunk.
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |

Never heard them. But did read the novel and it didn't grab me. I understand its importance, but, jeez, it's just not my bag.
I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank |

I've got Icecream Sunday from Mortal Mirror on my mp3 player, got it from Kill All Rock Stars site. I like the song, never got round to checking out more of thier stuff. Dosn't really sound like Seater Kinney or Bikini Kill but thats what I always associate them with, propbably because of the female vocals, am I way off?
'it seems,' I said, looking up at the sun, 'when a man dreams, a white butterfly does be after coming out of his mouth and walking away; and when it comes back again, it is then he awakes.' |

I can't say cause I've never really listened to either, but I assume Bikini Kill is a lot more raw punk rock, kinda like Babes in Toyland. Quixotic is like...I don't know...they sound very dark but not heavy; the fact that "Icecream Sundae" directly quotes Syd Barrett's "Love You" (Ice cream sundae / I've seen you looking good the other evening) should give you a big hint. They're very melodic with beautiful vocals and amazing guitar. I can't really relate them to another band that I'm into. Definitely check them out.
I guess I just wasn't made for these times. |
