The Pixies, Kanye West, Wilco and Modest Mouse lead the lineup for the Sasquatch! Music festival, to be held May 28 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash. Other mainstage acts include the Arcade Fire, Ray LaMontagne, Jem, Bloc Party and U.S.E.
The Frames, Joanna Newsom, A.C. Newman, Matisyahu, Bobby Bare Jr., the Be Good Tanyas and the Benevento/Russo Duo will perform on the second stage, while acts with local ties such as Smoosh, Aqueduct, Visqueen and the Blue Scholars will hold court on the third stage.
Sasquatch! is the first confirmed show of 2005 for the Pixies, who staged a triumphant reunion tour last year after a 12-year hiatus. The quartet also plans on working in June and July, according to Marc Geiger, their agent at William Morris Agency.
"We're discussing some innovative ideas," Geiger tells Billboard.com. "We're looking at playing two shows in one night in the same market, with combination tickets. The first show would be a set of rare songs and B-sides, and the second would be the hits."
Geiger says the Pixies are also talking with other "like-minded" acts about playing some amphitheater shows in July, prior to a European run in late August.
Internet presale tickets for Sasquatch! are available through Friday (Feb. 25) via Ticketmaster, with the general public onsale beginning the next day. Camping passes are also available for $30.
Last year's festival featured sets from the Roots, the Shins, the Black Keys, the Postal Service, Built To Spill and Cat Power, among others.

i certainly hope the b-sides idea will spawn a string of shows, not just a one off thing. it seems silly to go through the trouble of learning and rehearsing all those songs just to play them once or twice before moving on to the festival dates.
honeycomb comes out in june, pixies dates in june, july and august. hmmm.

Pixies, schmixies. If they only play at festivals or crappy venues like last year, I might not even bother going.
(who am I fooling? Course I'll go but the venue really did suck big time)

Yeah, a Rare/B-sides show is a really great idea. Props to whoever came up with the idea.

What about the honeycomb tour? How sad? I'd love to hear the b-sides, but i'd prefer honey comb! I must admit though the gorge is the coolest venue in the usa with red rocks pulling in a close second!

I will go to every show near where I live, of course. The B-sides show is an awesome idea. First saw They Might be Giants do it a while back... I can't wait.

Not to get too off-topic, and sorry to bring back an old thread, but when did TMBG do a b-sides show? What did they play?

Well, I remember one thing, I was unable to go.
I saw TMBG at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, WA back in 1994 (I think?) with The Presidents of the United States of America opening. That was back when the Presidents were still a local Seattle band. At any rate, there was a big sign as you walked in the door saying they would be playing a second show the next night at a small club. The small club was 21+, however, and I was under 21 at the time. So I couldn't go. I was pissed.
The second show was billed as a "Early Stuff" show, and they even had a list of songs like "Chess Piece Face" "Everything Right is Wrong Again" "Toddler Hiway" and stuff like that. I can't say exactly what they played, again, because I wasn't there. Still sort of pissed about that.
Washington State liquor laws suck. Any place that serves alcohol is 21+, period. I remember seeing Soundgarden standing in front of a bar back in 1988, just smoking before or after a show. Of course I couldn't go to the show, because I was too young. Stupid liquor laws.
