I'm into the old Volkswagen Transporters rather heavily.

This is not my bus - just a pic for reference.

I tend to dig just about any old car from the Goggomobile to the Mustangs of the 60's and 70's.

What about you?

check this site out KSR. www.bulliboys.com

my friends used to be into VW's heavily, one guy even got a wolfsburg tattoo (the castle with the waves). in this picture you can see vancouver in the background:
www.bulliboys.com/pickup-uberalles.jpg" border="0">

it was taken in my hstomping ground, the north shore. if you look at all the "great canadian volkswagen show" pics i'm sure i'm in a couple.

I've seen a couple of these things around lately.

I wouldn't think you'd be too safe if you were to get into an accident.

Shiney, that is COOL COOL COOL!!!

I remember Bulliboys when I was eating, sleeping and breathing busses - 1998-2000 or so.

For any wondering, "bulli" is a euro term for the VW Transporter.
I have one running, three as parts busses and am looking at buying a 78 Champagne Edition a friend of mine has in Louisville.
Disease.
Air cooled Volkswagens are a disease, man.

HPM, I just watched the original (1974 - www.gonein60seconds.com ) Gone in 60 Seconds last night. I bought it on DVD for my son - his 7th birthday.
Yeah.
For my son.
I bought it for him.
I went on a rant the other day to some girl about the new Mustangs. She was saying they were ugly and I got all loud about it; "They're AWESOME! They look like Eleanor!!! They look like REAL Mustangs!!!"

oh, and carolyn, I think cleaned one of those little cars out of the air filter on my bus a while back.
What is that thing?

Its a Swatch car, a neighbour of mine has one.
They are so small that you can park by just backing into a spot.
I wonder where the hell the engine is in that thing.

Yep, the Things are probably the most specialized, unique air cooled VW that went into actual mass production.
They were only produced for two years I think - 1972-1974 .
They actually share several parts in common with the Transporter (suspension mainly) and were (not so loosely) based on the Kübelwagen - the 'Nazi jeep' .

As a result, the Thing communities are rather 'elitist'.
Not everyone can afford one.

Googling the swatch car.
Neat-O.

Of course I would probably have to do some flying to get to the forum members in North America, South Africa, Australia etc. I just have to choose between luxury:

And sheer speed:

Then again I could always cruise the oceans.

I love my luxury sometimes.

I'd need this car if I was ever to visit Liverpool.

Or this one for Iraq.

I admit the next ones are a bit frivolous, but hey, if you got the cash.

And this one just to make VoVat jealous.

You drove that? You bastard, I'm jealous. How much did it cost? Were you working part-time or did your parents buy it for you (I'm assuming the latter)?

Rita, what year is your Transporter?

In the "bus community" we all wave...if you'll wave back.
Generally, people who drive VW vans all realize that the vehicle they are driving is like little else on the road.

Floop, I used to drive a 1975 Volvo 164E .
Which was actually white like this one before the paranoid hippie that owned it before me decided to brush-paint it green.
Even then, it was still an extremely cool car.
I drove it to 205K miles and sold it for $300 .
That 308 still ran like a wristwatch.

Aw, Homers, I'm not a bastard! :)

ok, so my firebird was a little different...it didn't have the 400, it was a straight-6 OHC 250. other than that, same car.

I, THANK YOU VERMUCH, bought the car. and it cost me $2. yep, two dollars. It belonged to a fam. member who wanted it out of her garage for a while...drove it for abt. 2 1/2 years. then i sold it back for $2.

LOVED the firebird. everytime i see it now, i kiss it on the trunk. the hottest girl in my school really dug it--so did my girlfriend at the time:)

I had a '65 Volvo 122/Amazon from 1983 until I sold it in 2002. I put well over 200,000 miles on it during that time. I also had a Volvo 544 for a few months.

i like those too. i had several volvos after my 1964 122. used to really dig them. now i have a honda civic that my parents got for me out of pity (all the car troubles i had) and, while it has zero style, it's nice to have a car that starts up and runs. i love it.

lately i've really been digging the old porsches. if i ever get the money i'd love to have another vintage car, but not as my main automobile. that was part of my nightmare..

Nope, $4 now Homers...sorry, inflation you know. wait, make that £5.

(btw, is it kosher to say £5 quid or just 5 quid? i wouldn't say $40 dollars--thanks for the English lesson!!)
